Eric Cantors stunning primary defeat is leaving his campaign in a financial bind.
The Virginia Republicans political operation has asked his House GOP colleagues to cut checks so he can refund his donors.
Cantor spent funds meant for the general election during his unsuccessful primary campaign battle against fellow Republican Dave Brat. Since he lost and has no general election in November, federal law mandates that Cantor must return those general-election contributions to the donors.
Several lawmakers and GOP aides said Cantor needs to raise upwards of $150,000 to refund his donors, and possibly far more.
Doug Heye, Cantors deputy chief of staff, confirmed that campaign aides have solicited GOP lawmakers for donations since his June 10 defeat. Cantor himself has not asked colleagues for money.
The development marks a dramatic turn of events for Cantor, who has long been one of Washingtons top fundraisers. Cantor spent years traversing the country to raise money for himself, the Republican Party and other GOP candidates now has to raise money from his colleagues to repay donors.
Cantor was not only generous with his time, but also was free with his campaign money. He frequently cut checks for candidates, and hosted dinners for lawmakers at restaurants all over Washington.

Watching him reach into his own pocket to avoid criminal charges might be icing on the cake.
As an aside, I'd be interested in knowing how his net worth changed since he showed up in D.C.
I wonder how much money is in his slush fund, err, PAC?
And McCarthy is not worried about reelection.
His District is 40% Hispanic and lots of white farmers.
By the way...
Besides Jeff Sessions and Steve King, are there ANY elected Republicans who are vigorously campaigning against the Obama guided southern border invasion?
Mid January 2015 can't come soon enough so that we'll never hear another word (except possibly from MSNBC) from this duplicitous Amnesty promoter.
“Don’t give this DESPICABLE HAS-BEEN a penny.”
I hope you don’t think I was going to, haha.
Sending him some Monopoly money would be fun.
If Cantor violated a criminal law, he should go to prison. Making restitution can be imposed as part of his sentence but criminal misappropriation of funds calls for prosecution and not for Let’s Make a Deal, especially pre-indictment. He also has to have a campaign treasurer, registered with the Federal Elections Commission. Since Eric Cantor, as a candidate, was not supposed to handle contributions to his on campaign, it is the treasurer who gets whacked first. If Cantor handled contributions to his own campaign, make that a cell for two! Add in Thad Cockroach and Haley Boss Hogg Barbour and we can reserve a two-cell suite for them.
“He only needs 20 Republicans to make Amnesty happen.”
That’s still a lot. I agree he might have 5 or so under his belt, but the vast majority of Republicans know they will have to answer to the Tea Party if they try that stunt. I suspect even some Democrats in close races might think twice about taking the bait, especially considering what’s going on at the border.
Unfortunately the Republicans are just about completely at a loss on how to respond. They’re afraid of saying ONE THING that might come across as being harsh on those poor innocent MS-13 teenagers...I mean little children in diapers.
How much is his Congressional pay and pension?

Good info! I’ll ask the sheriff if he has room for a few more miscreants, as we take in a few here and there when space is at a premium elsewhere. They eat pretty well - the cook uses seized buckskin and (I don’t know if I should tell you this) elk to stay in budget. Maybe not a private dinning room at the Mayflower, but still on the taxpayer’s dime.
Good riddance crook.
Geeze, guess he shouldn’t have had 168,000 dollar steak dinners eh?

Or a few pesos.
Have heard rumors that Eric Cantor’s campaign treasurer is disreputable cousin Rogue Elk. If so, Black Elk says feed Rogue Elk to prisoners. He probably tough and stringy unlike Cantor’s preferred Chateau Briand or Coquilles St. Jacques and Rogue Elk not be missed by decent elks anywhere. He is a known EINO: Elk in Name Only!
