The terms “husband” and “wife” have been deleted from California’s marriage law under a bill signed into law Monday by Gov. Jerry Brown.
The terms will be replaced with “spouse” to accommodate same-sex marriage, which became legal in the state last year after the Supreme Court struck down a voter-approved ban on it.
SB1306, the bill signed Monday by Brown, takes effect Jan. 1 and reflects the legality of gay marriage after a decade of litigation. The law also removes limits on recognizing same-sex marriages performed out of state.

Yet, here is a state no longer acknowledging or accepting the reality of “husband” and “wife.” Heck, and before long, it will undoubtedly be deemed un-PC to even utilize such words, and you’ll get fired from a job for even daring to categorize people thusly.

I wish the Catholic Church (and any others interested) would simply marry people without government involvement. A black co-worker years ago described her pastor asking how many couples were living in sin; when several raised their hands, he called them all to the front and pronounced them married.
Easy enough; they felt “cleansed” and no longer sinful, and their pastor saw no reason to involve Uncle Sam. The legal protections they gave up are today obstacles to many young men marrying anyway...

They are already doing that (with or without government approval); we should also completely disregard Caesar’s intrusion into our faith.

It’s too bad even Fox news is peddling this nonsense. All the Supremes did is to let stand the ruling by a district judge. They sidestepped the issue by saying that the Prop8 proponents did not have standing to defend the case.
The district court ruling only applies to the two homos that sued and maybe in their home district. It does not apply statewide but Moonbeam and Kamala Harris the attorney general illegally pressured county clerks all over the state to issue marriage certificates to homosexuals.
You are correct, but those details got lost when the ruling was announced. Brown and Harris decided it meant that homosexual marriage must be allowed for everyone. Nobody challenged that interpretation, so homosexual marriage Continues in California.
Should be:
“Spouses of indeterminate number, age, child or of age of consent, species, living or dead and of various sex and gender assignment contemporaneously self identified except where medical information is private.”
That should work for a California usage.
