“The View” host Sheri Shepherd reportedly wants “nothing to do” with her unborn child now that her marriage has folded. Shepherd reportedly used IVF to conceive a child with her husband Lamar Sally but now is not interested in caring for the baby, who is being carried by a surrogate mother.
This story demonstrates one of the problems with in-vitro fertilization. The first problem for the pro-life movement is that the surrogate mother or the egg donor could decide they no longer want to carry the pregnancy to term and decide to terminate the unborn child’s life in an abortion.
But the second problem is in this type of situation where the egg donor changes her mind about the child. Then questions crop up about who will raise the child and whether the baby will have to be put up for adoption or placed in the foster care system — something that is less likely to happen in a natural pregnancy situation.
According to the London Daily Mail:
And according to TMZ, the 47 year-old has no genetic connection to the infant who was conceived through IVF with an egg donor and her estranged husband’s sperm.
Sources told the website on Saturday that she believes her TV writer ex defrauded her into having a child so he could get child support – knowing full well he was planning to file for divorce.
The pair first tried IVF with her own eggs but when that failed they opted to use donor egg with Lamar’s sperm and a surrogate to carry the pregnancy, the source added.
But now, according to TMZ, the former The View host does not want to be considered a parent because she does not want to take financially responsibility.
And the website reports she allegedly wants a judge to rule she has no parental rights for the baby due at the end of the month.
Two weeks ago Lamar tried to get their whole divorce case sealed in court to prevent his wife of three years talking publicly about the marriage breakdown.
A judge said Sherri can chat about her divorce as much as she wants, but she can’t reveal the name and whereabouts of the woman carrying the couple’s child, TMZ reported.
Lamar is also worried that too many people at the hospital when their surrogate gives birth could hurt the baby.
“egg donor”
“sperm donor”
All this is madness.
Do it the normal way, or ADOPT!
Porcine was the word I was looking for...
She signed a contract — the surrogate mother and Lamar Sally should sue her for support.
Surrogacy is intrinsically immoral because a child has a right to be raised by his father and mother. This episode underlines the problem.
She is a F.A.R.T....
Fast Assed Liberal Tramp.....
Poor child. No known mother, with biological parents who likely never met not even for coffee, DNA merely tossed together in a lab, and the mother who “ordered” him or her now wants to cancel the order and stop payment.
And in the celebutard circles, it could get even worse, with homosexuals on inside seeking a child to adopt and “love”. I sure hope it’s a girl and there’s a real family out there for her. The crazy SS couples of either sex seem to target boys.
She may not have a choice. The courts have ruled that parentage is not a matter of biology.
Just another evil Bummer voter...
Don’t know what is wrong with fingers today.
Fat Assed Racist Tramp....
“Since she is a rabid liberal, Id expect her to go to court and demand an abortion for the surrogate.”
Pretty sure she’s a conservative Christian.
IVF is a form of breeding livestock - diabolical science.
egg donors get paid
surrogates get paid
sperm donors get paid
None of whom raise the children.
The popularity of Ancestry.com illustrates how much we cherish our parentage. The poor children of these selfish experiments will never find or have that connection to their geneaological’roots’.
Based on what?
Based on this article she is an idiot.
If it’s still under warranty, maybe she could take it back and get a refund. Probably only store credit though ... But she could sell that for another couple of deep-dish pizzas, which she obviously needs.
She hasn't, at least not in this instance. Her husband is the genetic father, an unknown egg-seller is the genetic mother, and a second woman is the gestational carrier.
I didn't catch whether the genetic father also wanted to be the actual father as a single parent. If not (perhaps even, "If so ...), the best outcome would be adoption by a heterosexual married Christian family.
The kid will be far better off then being around this “mother”
Words escape me, but that is pretty close.
Unfortunatley, the government pays them to breed
The baby should sue her...
adsum non vestra sed vos
Pretty sure she self-identified herself as a Christian. Not really to make claims.
When she unabashedly slobbered her support for a Presidential candidate who is zealous about supporting abortions without any exceptions (even allowing the murder of babies who escape the late term abortionists scissors), and support for the sin of homosexuality -- I pretty much concluded: Not a Christian. Maybe her god is really skin color.
