Egypts president has issued a decree raising the sales tax on cigarettes by up to 50 percent and on beer by 200 percent. [ ]
President Abdel-Fattah el-Sissi, former military chief elected last month, vowed to take tough decisions to address the countrys battered economy. This weekend, el-Sissi also partially lifted subsidies on fuel, a politically sensitive issue that Egypts previous leaders had avoided.

Worthy Oriental Gentlemen of The Moon God persuasion are forbidden alcohol. (They drive quite badly enough without it.) So how do the Gippos raise any money with a tax on Beer? The Copts can't be drinking all that much, considering that every time they pop down to the corner store, they run the risk of crucifixion at the hands of a howling mob of goat-buggering Muslims.
PS, the beer in Alexandria used to be the real German-brewed thing. Hope the camel humpers haven't ended that!
