There are many who are similar -- they get money from the government so they can continue protesting the actions of that government. It is all part of spreading-the-wealth-around. And it includes leaders in so-called friendly countries from across the seas.

Much of the growth in government since Reagan has been to establish mechanisms to pass taxpayer funds to gov't, quango and NGO for the support of non-productive leftists so that they can spend their time advancing the marxist cause.

When the KGB first dispatched Arafat to the territories, they set up a weekly plane from Romania that brought in cash and weapons. At that time, the Soviets were putting up about $200,000 per month to keep the PLO in “mad” money.

But of course the Moscow-trained Arafat was so good at scamming western governments and leaders including Carter that Moscow eventually cut off the “care package” flights.

Western Europe and the US provided almost ALL of those billions, and really continues to do so today. Arafat outlived the Soviet Union that created him, and his scam outlives him.

Ayers has been good at what he does but Arafat was the master.
