Yes, I saw it Wednesday with friends. Not much of a turnout for the matinee, but it was a wonderful movie. Had me in tears in several spots. Every patriot should see it & should drag their commie-loving relatives to see!
If I did see it, I wouldn’t tell you for fear of an IRS audit.
We saw it on Wednesday at 5. Not much of a turnout, since it was midweek and late afternoon. But regardless, it was VERY GOOD. Go see it - uplifting, celebratory, well made. We loved it. Made me furious too - those thugs in DC must go. Tar & Feathers, never a bad idea.
Hey, I live in Metrowest and I’m going to see it next week. I remember his first movie, Obama 2016 and the theatre was packed!
Just when the left starts to feel comfortable in gaining a foothold on squishing the American sprite ... along comes D’Souza with this outstanding film. A must see.
I am hoping the earnings are somewhat comparable to 2016, as we need this genre to thrive and they key to sustainability is profit.
I thought the color saturation was a little high and I wish he would have expanded on the segment regarding Saul Alinsky —the role of this venal insect was so far-reaching for American “progressivism” that Alinsky could merit his own film, really.
I think his phased release strategy and his marketing to church congregations is effective —I saw the movie on the first showing of the first day in my area (which was one day prior to the official release date) but for the first time in 15 years my FreeperShip was suspended and so I could not write the timely film review that this film merited, really terrible luck...
I thought Dinesh handled the felony question perfectly —head-on and direct, no “but I didn’t inhale” shenanigans, which is actually counter-productive.
I did prefer the first film but I think if you are a Conservative but neglect to see this film with all your friends then you are freaking crazy.
Well done documentary. However, it is just going to preach to the choir. The left can never be swayed by facts and patriotism. Still, it offers hope.
I’m going to see it with my brother on Tuesday.
I saw it in Framingham (Metro West) yesterday, and there were about 12 people in the theater at the 8:10 show, which is actually pretty good for a Thursday.
Here's my review thread from earlier today: My Brief Review of Dinesh D'Souza's "America"
Going tomorrow.......will let you know.
Saw it in Oklahoma City Thursday night. The theater was packed. Janitta Swain, who played Madame CJ Walker in the movie, was in the audience.
When it was over - there was a standing ovation for her and the movie.
I saw it today and it is a great documentary. He takes on every America hating claim and destroys it. Then he explains what the radical left is really up to. He destroys Sol Alinsky with his own words on camera from the 60s. Destroys Obama, Obamacare, the IRS, DOJ, and how Alinskyites are destroying America using the gov’t power to do it. Also destroys Hillary and exposes her devotion to Alinsky.
I saw it today. Only a handful in the theater but it was a 1230 show and it’s pouring in Boston.
I thought it was great. It explained a lot.
Will have to wait for the next week or two to feel the impact of viewership of this great film. This is not strong weekend for any film!!!
All Freepers should turn out and view this film and encourage all other Americans to do exactly the same. Please continue ur input good folks on this site and others!!! We need to make this flick a major box office success!!!
Remember...the more numbers we can put in movie theater seats...the more positive impact this film will have among the general public, who will then turn out in large numbers to see it!!!
My wife and I saw it this afternoon. It was great and I encourage all of you to go. At the end the audience clapped and cheered and stood for the song at the end. It was a great July 4th event. I have to admit that if you love America it will bring more than one tear to your eyes. Also, several facts regarding America’s history were highlighted in the movie.
The per-screen average was $535 for Wednesday and Thursday, which compares with all of the other major releases, from #3 on down. #3/$869, #4/$803, etc.
In daily gross, it placed at #12. Per screen, it places at #9. His movie needs a good opening week to get wider release. Right now it's in limited releasse.
BTW, "America" is the subject of Megyn Kelly's show tonight (7/4).
Reading the headstones is a very humbling experience.
Just got back from seeing this from Solomon Pond mall - a metro-west theater. Despite the rain, theater was half-full. Robust round of applause from all at the end!
As the fireworks go off to celebrate our freedom, Dinesh D’Souza’s ‘’America’’ has just surpassed Hillary Clinton’s ‘’Hard Choices’’ on Amazon.com’s Bestseller List. God bless America.
