News services throughout the world carried dramatic video of a mortally wounded Channel One Russian journalist lying on the floor of a minibus as those around him sought in vain to save his life. Among the buss occupants were women, said to be mothers of the Ukrainian soldiers in the garrison outside of Donetsk, who had opened fire on the minibus. For video, see http://rt.com/news/169304-russian-cameraman-last-video/.
Thanks to the eyewitness account of a Forbes.ru journalist, we learn that the Russian separatists deliberately sent reporters and mothers of soldiers into the line of fire, hoping to gain a propaganda coup from their deaths or injuries.

Pupin and his crew, just doing what people like them always do...
Evil. Sending reporters and the mothers of soldiers to be massacred. Putin and his clan are sick.
Okay... reporters I can understand..... but jeez... mothers of soldiers is extremely disturbing

An idea was that mothers had to convince their kids to lay down arms. I think about 90% of Ukrainian military bases were captured this way as far as their army is mostly a teenage conscript force. From the video a bus was driven by a guy in camo wearing a St. George ribbon which is typical for the rebels and for that reason a garrison opened fire on the bus.
Russian and psychopath are synonyms.
They are also mostly stupid and so get caught in their lies and propaganda usually.
No. That was not the idea. The idea was a media event where journalists and mothers get killed. That is why they loaded them on a bus and had it drive at midnight at the base that 50 soldiers were guarding. You claim that the fire was opened because of the colorado beetle ribbon the driver was wearing, but this is ridiculous. No one could see this small detail at midnight. Handlers knew what is going to happen if you drive a bus at the military base at night considering what the situation in Ukraine is now.
PR was part of the plan for the rebels for sure, regardless the consequences.
