The Army last week began notifying about 1,100 captains that they will be purged from the ranks. The same fate is awaiting about 500 majors, who beginning this week will be told their active-duty careers are over. They're among nearly 2,500 officers and NCOs who will be involuntarily separated this year as part of an ongoing drawdown of forces.

some officers who were let go are scrambling to find a home, as well as a job. Thankfully for the captain who's expecting his first child, his landlord is allowing him and his wife to continue to rent the house at their current location without any hassle. He just wishes the Army gave him more answers.

Active Duty ping.
If you aren’t “openly gay” or an illegal alien or an “openly gay” illegal alien, you’re outta here!
Repeat of ‘91. I knew a guy who PCs’d to Korea, then got told 3 days after he arrived that he was RIF’d.
why are we not ALL in The Streets demanding this ALL STOP NOW??
Just another way to make sure the military is O friendly
Hmmmm....This reminds me of the Jimmy Carter days.
RIF is tough. Prayers to the families.
“The purge of the Red Army and Military Maritime Fleet removed three of five marshals (then equivalent to five-star generals), 13 of 15 army commanders (then equivalent to three- and four-star generals), eight of nine admirals (the purge fell heavily on the Navy, who were suspected of exploiting their opportunities for foreign contacts),[29] 50 of 57 army corps commanders, 154 out of 186 division commanders, 16 of 16 army commissars, and 25 of 28 army corps commissars.[30]”

Any officer that has been around since Bush is suspect and needs to be purged.
I know 6 close to me that are on terminal leave. They will be out in Aug or Sept.
One needed to be RIF. The others are/were needed in the unit.
In an earlier thread Barry was whining about the GOP and making loud noises about how hard he has been trying to save the middle class.
Those d*!#/ed Eastasians and Emmanual Bush ...
My prayers are with the affected officers/NCOs and their families. These are America’s TRUE best and their readjustment will not be easy. God speed and thank you and your families for their service.
I’d advise affected folks to join and participate in a reserve component. It will help in the transition and will also give you some retirement benefits when you reach age 60.
so those that know, is this an astonishing number of officers or routine?......I smell purge...
I hope they join the militia.
The fundamental transformation continues.
Not routine. The budget is the budget for the AF.
We cannot cut from any areas other than jobs any more.
I do not like it. But, Obama will reduce the size of the AF and the rest of the services.
Captains and Majors should form the core of our NEW GOVERNMENT .
America needs to be led by warriors , these warriors , combat experienced warriors . To Hell with clueless civilian political leadership. They have subverted our Constitution and the American way of life .It’s time for them to go. Now!Soon! Before it’s too late. It is almost too late...
Well as long as we’ve got money for Gay Pride events and Ramadan feasts at the Pentagon, as well as money to arm and train ISIS and other terrorist groups - and of course, diapers for the disease-ridden unaccompanied children that the regime planned for in January of 2014.... God knows we don’t need soldiers or any of the actually CONSTITUTIONALLY-MANDATED function of the federal government, like protecting us from invasion...
Obama is a foreign enemy combatant. How long before Odierno and all the other top guns realize that and actually do something about it?
This happens all the time. It happened when I was in the Army in 1970. (not to me) If a soldier is not talented enough to move up in rank, s/he should not stay at that rank for 15-20 years. Make room for other more talented soldiers to move up to their ranks.
It happens in business (up or out). It happens in sports.
