John McCain: Cochran's Tactics against Tea Party in MS Worth Emulating

One week after traveling to Mississippi to do his utmost to help Senator Thad Cochran (R) beat Tea Party rival Chris McDaniel, Senator John McCain (R-AZ) talked about the strengths he saw in Cochran's approach to campaigning.

According to AZ Central, McCain dismissed criticism over the tactics the Republican Establishment used to get black Democrats to cross over and vote for Cochran.

Said McCain, "There are some people complaining that African-American voters voted. [But] I thought one of the major priorities of the Republican Party was to get all minority and ethnic voters out to vote for Republicans."

He described Cochran's "get-out-the-vote campaign" as "excellent," then talked about how he will face similar circumstances in Arizona and needs to work equally as hard if he runs again. "The key is you'd better pay attention, you'd better work hard, you'd better organize." He added, "And you'd better understand that there's a strong anti-Washington/anti-incumbency sentiment out there, which is justified and you've got your work cut out for you."

The Tar and Feather Party has a nice ring to it too. It smells like victory.

I am just saying, if we can’t organize to help Chris McDaniels stop the GOPe from out-and-out stealing an election, what hope do we have to organize anything.

The media’s good at burying the challenge story but we have to keep it alive. We have to help this man defeat the evil that is our political system.

Ok, its now ok if Conservatives don’t vote Repub. The Repub party want to leftwing wing then they can do so without Conservatives helping it go down that path.

... you have to stake out your position and draw a line in the sand.

My position is that I will vote for candidates who, if they WIN, will reduce government and start turning things right.

The line in the sand is that I will refuse to vote for someone who if he WON would advance leftism.

If deeply flawed Republican primary protocol results in a collectivist/liberal/socialist/leftist government-advancing Republican candidate, my vote will go to a "third" party candidate to at worst reduce the mandate of whichever government-advancing leftist win, and at best (if my candidate wins) to install in office a candidate who will REDUCE GOVERNMENT. Whether my candidate wins or loses, my vote will have acted to WEAKEN LEFTISM.

However, let's talk about REALITY. Technically, it's a "third" party (although there are dozens of "third" parties), but in REALITY, the Republicans and the Democrats represent the same political approach: more and bigger government. So when Americans vote "third" party, in reality, they are voting SECOND party.

McDaniel’s people are reporting that after finishing Hinds County, they have 1,500 instances of double voting. The encouraging thing is that they’re now calling them “invalid double votes” rather than the earlier “irregularities” I believe it was.

Also, they don’t think they have to gather enough to overcome the Cochran lead if they can also show that other illegal activity occurred on the Cochran side, such as paying for votes, etc.

http://dailycaller.com/2014/06/30/mcdaniel-unveils-another-strategy-against-thad-cochran/

They also think there’s a possibility of making some headway when they get to the absentee ballots, where they think “a lot of the effort was concentrated.”

I don’t think this thing is over yet. Tellingly, county court clerks in many counties are making life difficult for them, suggesting the Cochran campaign is concerned.

I’m also seeing GOPe concerned, trying to make it go away. I feel very strongly that this is the time to stand our ground and fight the fraud. I never dreamed that so many both in and out of government would either turn a blind eye to fraud or actually endorse it like McCain and others trying to say Cochran was smart.

I pray we can stand with McDaniel on this and let the GOP know they can’t cheat their way to an election.

Again and again, McCain illustrates how he is one of the most despicable men on earth. And this sophistry is among the lowest of his stunts.

So McCain is all for corrupting the election system, so he and his GOP(e) cronies can retain full power at conservative's expense.

Just one more nail in the coffin showing why a 3rd party is needed.

This is precisely why we *must* let seats like McConnell's and Cochran's fall into democrat hands, if necessary, when the republicans turn their guns on us. John McCain and his ilk only feel emboldened when their attacks on us, the base, have no repercussions. They have chosen to appeal to liberals and progressives; let them win with liberal and progressive votes. Let them try to out-democrat the democrats. Not one conservative should feel an ounce of shame for withholding a vote from them. I'd rather have an opponent in front of me for six years than one entrenched at my back. Better to send a message that our support must be earned, and focus on the governor and representative elections during the interim.

So the GOPe has decided they could stop conservative republicans like Ted Cruz, by running ads with talk of lynchings and the sounds of chains dragging. That's despicable. A lot of people are going to leave the party if they do more of that.

I think we lose sight of the fact that the GOPe is a token amount of individuals who’ve attained power and who are using it to enrich themselves and their friends.

The key is to eject this small group from power, not to splinter a major party into two ineffectual parties that can then be outvoted by Democrats. The process is well underway, and as the Cochran race is showing, it’s a necessary process.

But leaving in the middle of the battle to form a third party won’t accomplish the desired result, unless all one desires is to get even at all costs, and I do mean all costs, because if too many do so, it will cost the country dearly.

I haven’t given up hope on the McDaniel campaign just yet. 1500 double votes is a lot to find in one county, even though it’s one of the more populated counties.

Agreed, agreed. I actually think McDaniel has a fairly good shot at a re-do. Unfortunately, that's not the case for Matt Bevin. May Chris McDaniel find jubilant victory, and Mitch McConnell find devastating defeat.

Good point. I’m not advocating a third party. But I do think people will be inclined to vote 3rd party if the GOP starts acting this badly.

I imagine myself being a long-time loyal Republican voter in Mississippi, who supported McDaniel.

Could I possibly hold my nose and vote for Thad Chochran, after his despicable election tactics? I honestly do not think I could. I believe I would vote third-party, write in or abstain on that race. Probably vote third-party, as I think it shows up as “protest vote” most clearly.

So, if a bunch of RINO conservatives starting acting out like this, playing the Race Card on the Tea Party, then I think more and more voters will reject them in favor of some alternative.

I suppose the most mature adult thing to do is say: so, he’s still better than the Democrat alternative.

But, if he wins the seat the tactic will be justified, and we’ll see more of it, and the Tea Party will be harmed. (So, I still think the correct tactical thing to do as a disgruntled GOP voter is make Thad loose. In fact the most effective way to do that is to vote for the Donk! So, maybe I would do that.

This behavior (Cochran campaign) needs to stop now! If we can’t win back the GOP we can’t win back the Country. We can’t win back the GOP if our own entrenched old fools start using Democratic cheating tactics in primaries, and getting away with it.

It wasn’t that Black people voted. It was the fact that they voted illegally.

Yes, they voted illegally, but they probably weren’t all black, and the idea came from a few lily-white GOPe operatives. We need to focus on the real problem, and it’s not black voters, it’s the operatives in our own party who directed the effort, and no doubt couldn’t care less if a significant number of the people they were encouraging to vote were doing so illegally. That’s who needs the comeuppance, not black voters many of whom were probably innocent dupes in the matter.

At least that’s how I see it.

John McCain making a stupid statement supporting ethically questionable practices in the Mississippi GOP runoff hours before the news of a possible vote buying scandal breaks in Mississippi? Priceless!
