McDonald was an Army Ranger, 82nd Airborne, West Point grad and spent a career at P&G working his way up, eventually becoming CEO. Quite an accomplishment, though this challenge will be unlike any he’s ever faced. Good luck to you Bob.

In 1985..GE brought in Silas Cathcart, the retired chairman of Illinois Toolworks, to run Kidder, Peabody, the old line Wall Street firm caught up in multiple scandals..when the appointment was announced, a WS exec was quoted anonymously in the WSJ: “That’s just what Kidder needs..a good tool and die man to run the place..”
