Well, Duh-1 ran out the clock. IMHO, the Canadians have waited well beyond what was reasonable, thanks to the ass in the white hut.

Of course, Obama will now hastily approve it even though it’s basically pointless now. Because it’s pointless now, more like. And of course, he and his supporters will then use it as an example that oil companies lie, etc., etc., since it was approved in a ‘timely fashion, with due consideration’ and yet it was never built.

NAFTA requires Canada to send 2/3 of its oil to the US, so a pipeline to their West Coast to ship to Asia will reap limited reward

And, you can bet there are folks ready to take Canada to NAFTA Court if they do not honor NAFTA US quota. Those groups who sue cities for “Buy American” ordinances will be suing Canada over oil

Canada is quite upset over Keystone, and rightfully should be

So they can ship their oil to Texas just like the Saudis do.

Building the proposed 1,179-mile Keystone pipeline promised, not just a huge new supply of reliable, clean, and affordable oil to U.S. markets...

I'm not trying to justify the delay in the pipeline because I'm not; it's ridiculous. But the oil flowing through the Keystone was never meant for the U.S. market. It was already planned for export.

Claiming it could no longer abide the Obama administration's five-year refusal to approve construction of the Keystone XL pipeline

That was not in anyway part of the justification. Both projects have been under review for years and both projects have companies that have made commitments to move oil on those pipelines.

This is not an either/or proposal. Both projects need to be completed.
