Gunman shot while trying to rob Store/Resturant/home invasion/etc

The Midland Police Department released the name Saturday of the shooter killed by an off-duty police officer during an attempted aggravated robbery at the La Bodega Mexican Restaurant and Bar on Friday evening.
City PIO Sara Higgins said 35-year-old Nyocomus Garnett entered the back door into the restaurants kitchen with a handgun in an attempt to commit robbery just after 9:30 p.m. Friday.
Garnett threatened numerous employees with the firearm before firing several rounds inside the kitchen. He then exited the kitchen and was confronted by an MPD detective who was eating in the restaurant and had heard the shots.
A woman who was eating with her family posted this on a local TV station’s FB page:
My family and I were eye witnesses to this event. My husband and I were there for a late dinner with our 3 children ages 2 months, 3 years, and 7 years old. We were just getting up to leave when all this happened. We heard a gunshot that came from the kitchen then lots of screams when the brave off duty officer got up and drew his gun.
The shooter whom which was wearing a black hoodie and red bandana over his face was entering the main dining room with his handgun. All might I add 10 feet from my small children, the officer engaged the shooter and gunfire was exchanged.
People panicked and ran but my family along with others hit the floor. My husband and I grabbed our 3 babies and hid under the table. My 7 year old little girl saw the shooter come from the kitchen with the gun and has been traumatized since.
I have been thanking God since this tragic event has taken place that he gave this off duty police man the bravery to take down this man. My children were in direct line of him if he were to have blindly shot like he did in the kitchen.
I owe this man my life for potentially saving the lives of my children and the rest of us who were innocently there having dinner. Sulema I am not here to judge you but if you could have seen the looks of fear on my 3 and 7 year olds faces as we huddled under the table you might feel differently. The shooters gun was drawn and the officer is a hero in my eyes.

This mother should get a job reporting stories, she’s good.
So was this another Trayvon. or he could have been my son in a hoodie?
Thanks.
So there is some good news today!
“Nyocomus Garnett “..what the heck are the Amish doing in this part of the country???
Thanks!
This guy was arrested just last year for evading arrest on yet another, previous, conviction.

The cop at the scene is as hero, IMO.
We are living in a war zone here in the Odessa/Midland area. Must be the heat...OR there are a lot of criminals coming out of the woodwork and moving in for the oil boom.
No excuses for all the deaths and injuries. :(

Better check the pockets for Skittles.
Driving down toward midland from the panhandle is some scary business with all the construction and oil trucks on the road...there are some scary people driving those things
I don’t think there is any doubt he’s a hero.
My Dad lives in Midland. I thought the story was gonna be about him robbing the place. J/K.
Nyocomus Jerome Garnett.
