Or maybe we should call it the Barbour machine. According to NRO and the FEC, Haley Barbours nephew paid a couple of get out the vote groups in Atlanta, via his SuperPAC, for phone services. These local groups are affiliated with a black pastor who is also a Democratic staffer and political strategist and it seems she may have been the key to getting out the black vote for Cochran:
She is, from all appearances, something of a renaissance woman: She is not only the pastor of Atlantas Emmanuel Baptist Church but also a former president of the Atlanta school board, a former construction-company executive, and a Democratic staffer and political strategist with a checkered past. Last year, she left her job as a senior adviser to Atlanta mayor Kasim Reed after news surfaced that she had filed a fraudulent financial-disclosure statement.

Corrupt bastards!
I certainly congratulate Cochran for his win. Im for more people voting, not less people voting.
Someone better get the word to Boss Hogg Barbour - he’s beside himself with wonder at who would send out such a flyer.
These people in the GOPe just disgust me. They ALL need to be thrown out, every last inbred elitist one of them. The Republican Party is so diseased with this filth I don’t know that it’s salvageable. All I can think to do is go “partisan”, as in intramural sabotage of everything the leadership tries to do, at every level, then try to pick up the pieces. That or third party.
Sigh...
Vote early, vote often, right?
Those registered republicans who overwhelming voted for McDaniel as their choice for the general election can go suck eggs.
Say what you will, Cochran is in. The GOPe is stupid when it comes to fighting democrats, but not when it comes to fighting conservatives.
Did you not observe Mitt?
This is how Mississippi politics operate, and in conjunction with the GOPe. And this is how the GOPe operates in the wake of the Cantor deal.
McDaniel is not going to Washington, though he should.
But if he couldn’t figure out that Cochran and Co were not going to give up that seat after the Cantor deal, you’re watching too much TV commentary.
The GOP knows exactly what happened in VA, and how to counteract it.
Fighting back that machine will take a lot of thought, planning, and patience, and a thick skin, as Cruz will have to put up with comments like yours.
Hmmm. I wonder how the lamestream media would’ve reacted if conservative dimmos had tried to get repubs to vote against the liberal dimmo...
This kind of thing defeats the whole primary process. The repubs were supposed to be picking the repub candidate. Instead, Cochrane corruptly got the dimmos involved in the repub selection process. Disgusting.
They did stuff like this to Cuccinelli in Virginia and are now defunding Brat in Ohio.
This is not a “Barbour machine” this is GOPE through and through.
Anyone want to bet she has connections w OFA or SEIU?
[Which is why I am ping'ing Black Agnes]
And these people don't suspect Haley Barbour as much as KNOW that Haley is behind this...
Did Cochran win? If there are 10,000 votes for him from Democrats who voted in the Democratic Primary and then voted for Cochran, he lost the election...
McDaniel has a right to contest an election that is basically a 50% to 50% with a slender margin of victory.
And there appears to be indications that Hinds County, Forrest County, and Lamar County played a strong hand in his victory.
I’m looking forward to the RNC “autopsy report” of this race.
The part I don’t get.... I mean... its a secret ballot. They can identify people who voted illegally, but not who they voted for? I think the best we can hope for is a “do-over”.
Comment like what? I just used his words. He needs thick skin for people quoting him?
I was quoting Ted Cruz and Rang Paul. The more we find out, the more idiotic their statements.
Who? Wha?
Spoken in true passive aggressive lib speak
What are you doing to help the situation beside fault-finding?
This is a hot button issue with many in FreeRepublic land (what happened to Chris McDaniel)
I believe that all the old time Republicans (20 or more years in office in Miss.) are actually DemoRats at heart and duped the electorate into thinking they were Repubs from day one just to get elected.
