For me as well. Though I was already questioning, the use-and-abuse treatment of Sarah Palin really opened my eyes to the GOP-e. They've done nothing since but alienate me even more, and what happened in Mississippi this election sealed the deal. The GOP-e is DEAD to me!! I don't expect much in the way of "conservatism" to happen in my lifetime (I'm 46) but I pray that my daughters will be a part of a new American awakening.
I have a lot of hope in the Millenials. They embrace disruptive technology which means that it’s hard to pin them to the establishment. The Establishment depends on regulatory capture and these kids aren’t going to stand for that.
Even more importantly, they’re used to high quality, fast satisfaction. That’s something that the Leviathan cannot ever deliver. I think they’re more libertarian than is good for them, but then they surprise me and reduce the amount of teen sex, drug and alcohol use.
We’ve dumped the weight of the New Deal, Great Society and Obamanomics on their shoulders. That’s a tough burden. Their great failing is not knowing history.
That’s the way to put it... it “opened my eyes.” Seeing Palin being attacked, undermined and backstabbed by the Party leadership, all happily conspiring with the lib media... that did it for me.
I couldn’t even watch the 2012 GOP convention. I’d watched and enjoyed every GOP convention for decades, since I was in my teens. But this time, I couldn’t even bear to watch any of it. I knew these people no longer represent my values, my beliefs, my ideology. They indeed spit in my face. And they’ve continued to do so, here with McDaniel. This travesty with Cochran, with the GOP-E operatives telling black Dems to vote for Thad to “protect Obama” and combat the “racist” tea-partiers... is truly the lowest of the low.
These GOP-E guys are the scum of the earth. I want them to rot in hell, and if they take the Republican Party down with them, so be it.
