I own a modest chain of car washes ....not much of a secret here
I joked in March I needed an Indian rain dance guy to bring snow ...a boon for business.
It was a joke everyone on the forum but you got.
You excoriated me for flirting with Satan....which is incredible....it was a joke...I did not pull out tarot cards or the ouiji board
I do not know how old you are or how long of the faith or the road that got you here....but your rebirth appears fresh
I am 56 years old with 5 children from 6-25.... faithful to one woman for decades since marriage....my biggest accomlishment
I accepted Christ when Dr Robison was doing a revival at the church my family had attended in Jackson MS for 3 generations in 1966....Calvary Baptist
I don’t pretend to be perfect but I’ve never lost my faith through lifes ups and downs and pretty serious pain and suffering and mortality issues to this day but I can do without the consternation grounded preaching every time you find fault with folks here....with all due respect.
You’re not alone.....others do it too.
I welcome the prayers of anyone...lord knows they may have saved me but incessant self righteous harping reminds me of Charlie Daniels.....” preacher man like to do a little walking too”
I know you feel the Holy Spirit but the dark prince is not strong here amongst us..Christian or Jew...he is out there amongst the humanist where he is a rock star
Save yer ammo for where its most needed
A big yup on that, especially the last two sentences.
Well I’m a 25 year fundie. Been all sorts of places because of faith. Even Latvia.
But what I am doesn’t matter at ALL compared to what the Christ (incarnated as Jesus) is. I might not have all the theological corners duct taped down redneckly enough. And so what. Christ is the radical’s radical.
He’s trying to dig your mind out of the world’s reasoning system and get it thinking in God’s reasoning system, which is a bold promise of grace. Poof, your sins will be GONE. What, are you crazy, God? Well yes. Crazy enough to die on a cross.
Man’s philosophizing does not hold a candle to this. It can’t. It is utterly within the prerogative of the divine. And the power is yours the moment you believe it. The trouble is we are weak! We struggle to believe such outlandish ideas! Our minds come up with a million “Yeah, buts!”
Well I see a lot of dirt dragging that just doesn’t have to happen. If I come with a redneck strength foot washer machine, there’s a reason!
“Run against Thad as an independent”
No doubt the corrupt GOPe has already offered 6 figures for him not to run.
And sometimes I think those who regard Satan as a rock star are easier to convince of the worth of Christ, than those who pay God some kind of religion-offering and then go on in world-think. Maybe they were even born again, but then got all covered in world gunk and can hardly make a move for the Lord now.
Events like this latest shenanigans understandably aggravate the pee out of any halfway-moral person. But sometimes it looks like then, a spirit of vengeance takes over. And the result really IS self-righteousness.
A write in campaign CAN win.
Look at the June 3 results here:
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-tran/elections/2014-primaries-june3
(Mississippi results are down the page)
Notice the top vote getter that night was McDaniel. The ENTIRE Democrat slate didnt get HALF the votes of EITHER Republican.
I dont think Cochran will get DEMOCRAT votes in the general election, do you?
McDaniel could repeat what he did on June 3 and be the next Senator from Mississippi
GOPe. Tea party. Whatever. What it comes down to is all politicians lie and stink to a lesser or greater degree. The size of the clothespin on your nose in the voting booth tells it all.
“McDaniel: Sean, I was I have fought for these people. These are my colleagues. They are my friends I dont understand!”
At FR, we understand the uniparty all too well.
Listening to Chris McDaniel today, it seems he was hurt more by the betrayal of his colleagues and friends than the loss. When you think about it, that is a pretty devastating epiphany to realize those you gave your life to, the entity you sought to embrace and serve just whacked off on you... he is a good man. We need to send him money and pray. Have a great day.
Pretty sure that trying to buy your way into heaven while continuing to sin don't work.
I think we all see that everyday.
But sometimes it looks like then, a spirit of vengeance takes over. And the result really IS self-righteousness.
Don't mistake vengeance with fighting back and don't mistake self-righteousness with self-preservation.
I don’t live in Mississippi so it really doesn’t matter, but I wish McDaniels would stop whining and suck it up. He was defeated unfairly and I think he should see if there is some legal recourse; I also think that, as a state senator, he should get moving on a bill to prevent open primaries. It’s irrational to let the opposing party pick the candidates.
I also think this should be used to reveal how blacks are nothing but a weapon for the Democrats. I’m sure the famous “black churches” were mobilized to improperly use their funds and their pulpits to tell the grannies how to vote, since they otherwise would not be going out to vote in the GOP primary.
So I think McDaniels should fight back - BUT if he loses the challenge (although there is precedent for having an open primary reversed when it was proved that too many people voted in both primaries, if that happened in this case) he should just work on getting Cochran elected.
DC politics is all a numbers game. If we have more numbers, even if some of them aren’t particularly good, we call the shots. If we don’t have majorities, we simply won’t be able to accomplish anything.
It is crucial to get more GOP senators and reps elected this time around, especially senators. It is up to the whips and the majority leaders to get them to vote with their party in what will be an increasingly conservative project, simply because while McDaniels lost here, many other more conservative candidates won elsewhere.
He knew all along that the establishment would do what they did. It’s not fair, but he’s just got to get more resolve and go ahead. Taking his marbles and going home and saying he doesn’t care if his party wins since he’s not the candidate would be a stupid, childish and self-destructive way of handling it.
Umm... sometimes those are fine names that vengeance and self righteousness go under. (Hat tip to C S Lewis)
you do realize that a specific skill or specific set of knowledge does NOT MEAN NECESSARILY that one is intelligent over all.
There are plenty of stupid doctors and lawyers ..who have a niche skillset .and thats it.
Party pretty much is the only earthly lever left to US conservatives. As ugly and cruft-covered as it has gotten, what else is there — throw the elections to the Most Evil Party out of spite and then pray God for mercy?
HOWEVER, there needs to be a longer term effort to supplant the old guard with younger Tea Partiers. All supported by earnest prayers to the Lord every step of the way. What McDaniel tried to do was very admirable; perhaps the time was not quite ripe for its success.
That's where that "To thine own self be true" thing comes in.
That ain’t in the bible, BUBBA
Look chum, the bible gives a deal that the self-centered cannot abide.
The bible promises a new you — courtesy of God and firmly in God’s hands.
No room for “to thine own self be true.” Rather it is the crazy sounding dying to self and carrying one’s cross (the burden that results from living a life full of Christ). Because that is followed by resurrection in a new spirit and no it does not have to wait until you “get to heaven” before you start to see it!
Lying to yourself is the worst person you can lie to.
As far as the bible, I'm not a thumper.
