Those jobs that 12 year olds are doing in China r not the jobs that we want here in America. Look, if the skill level requires an uneducated impoverished person to do that job, it’s not something we should be looking to get back. Unless of course you want to be paying $500 for a pair of levis...

Not buying the whole bad weather thing. Lots of folks spent lots of money here in the Northeast - new tires, rock salt, shovels, snow plows, etc. Also, generators, candles, and canned goods. Plus, every time there’s a threat of a snow storm everybody runs to the supermarket to buy eggs, bread, milk, and toilet paper along with a goody or two.

Granted the pace of destruction is not yet critical, but look all around you.

We have high unemployment. Our government is taking over ever more of our lives, as ever more Americans become dependent upon the government, because their jobs are being outsourced.

This destruction has now happened for an entire generation.

I don’t know if I agree with you anymore.

Bring back jobs. Jobs. Jobs.

Well, Congress has the power to fix most of it all. But they remain complicit and dysfunctional costing America its treasure, power and freedoms. All the REASONS that America continues in an accelerating tailspin are ignored by the Congress.

It seems to me that the decline of wages and the need for two-income households pretty much maps with the rise of the feminist movement and the mass entry of women into the workforce in the early 70s. Coincidence? A chicken-and-egg conundrum? I don't know.

I agree completely.

The big problem is, the solution will be (greatly) different depending on who stands up for America first.

If Republicans get with it, turn around 180 degrees and bring back jobs to America, America will regain its composure and we will compete in good nature with China and the world will improve.

The thing is, if the Republicans don’t do anything but rather stand to one side (which is their approach at the moment, just worrying about their wallets) then I fear for America’s future greatly.

Eventually the Democrats in that case, will demand America bring back jobs.

And it will involve communism.

Women want to work today. You ask a young women today what they want to do with their lives. Career is the first thing mentioned. Having kids is an afterthought. Marriage is also becoming that way too. All of this is understandable, given today's realities.

I wasn't suggesting that we could turn the clock back. It won't happen. But I disagree that young women are as much in love with their "careers" as you suggest. Before I retired, I personally knew of three who would leave their good-paying jobs if they could afford to. And keep in mind that most women don't have "careers," they have "jobs." A lot of them would quit those jobs in a New York minute if they could afford to. My girlfriend works with three or four young mothers who are juggling their jobs (bakers) with their family lives, and it is very difficult.
