HATTIESBURG, Mississippi — Sen. Thad Cochran (R-MS) survived the most intense challenge he’s ever faced in his 41-year political career, winning a runoff against conservative state Sen. Chris McDaniel.

The Associated Press called the race for Cochran, who is up 6,880 votes with 99.9 percent of precincts reporting.

They only want our votes. They don’t want our ideals. They don’t want our people in their clubs.

Conservatives are to the Republican party what the black voters are to the democrats. Just a way to get elected.

Piss on them. I’m going to re-register as an Independent.

had it not been for that ONE county, McDaniel wins. What a POS Cochran is. We already knew he was a RINO now we know he is excrement.

What I am going to say now will get me flamed. So be it. I really would love to throw my full support behind Marble Mouth Beotch McConnell’s democrat opponent in KY, just to see this guy defeated. Just to show this ass that without the base, he has NO chance.

I know, why would I want to ensure Harry Reid as majority leader? It disgusts me, quite frankly to think about it. But what disgusts me more is a party that pisses on its base and, instead, relies on the democrats to ensure the victory of a ruling class of politicians who accept the inside the Beltway narrative pushed by the MSM, namely, that we are all kooks and racists. With friends like that, who the hell needs enemies. Moreover, with friends like that wtf is the difference between friends and enemies. Ole Bitch McConnell is simply going to go back to DC under the premise that the only thing wrong with the status quo is that Republicans are not in charge of the Big Gubmint machine.

Think about it, the very party we are supposed to support just rejected us in favor of support from the democrat base who love and adore Obama. They did it soley in the name of keeping their ruling class in power.

To hell with them all, ALL of them. They could not win an honest race and can’t bear that the rabble dare to usurp their God given divine right to rule. Meet the new bosses, same as the old bosses.

We are a two party system.

I still think we can take over the Republican party.

We have the numbers. They have cash but 11:1 outspend here and it took Rat voters for Cochran to win.

This is in a state largely reliant on federal contracts and handouts (military bases, contractors, etc. reliant on those dollars and jobs) that STILL voted majority Tea Party when it counted.

Know this is a tough loss. We need to fight to control the state party apparatus and write the rules.

That’s where the Rove-types beat us. They write the rules - such as these crazy crossover votes - where they can sleazeball the election later and steal it.

TAKE CONTROL OF THE PARTY.

That’s the way to go.

The GOPe is nothing without the grassroots actual voters. They know it. We know it. We just have to take over the machinery.

I still can’t believe Hannity will say will what appears as sincerity that he is sick of weak Republicans and he supports strong conservatives like Palin but then will have Rove on and call him “The Architect” as if he is a conservative. He thinks Rick Perry is a conservative. I don’t get it.

Did the crooked politicians who supported Cochran actually think that Cochran could win the state after flipping off all the conservatives - and even flipping off all the “Republicans” by buying democrats’ votes? Or was this all just spite towards “the Tea Party”? Never lose a chance to spit on the people who want to preserve the nation...

Gosh, I despise these people.

Tomorrow I call the NRSC and tell them to put my phone number on a list of numbers NEVER to call unless they want to be reported for harassment. I was registered as an Independent until I wanted to vote for Ben Sasse. Now it turns out that the Nebraska pubs switched to an open primary so I can register as I or nothing. Anybody can vote in any primary so there is no R party in NE any more, basically. There’s no reason to be affiliated with the R’s any more and a heckuva lot of reasons to NOT be affiliated with crooks like them. That’s what I’m going to tell them.

Here’s the contact information for anybody wanting to do something similar:

National Republican Senatorial Committee
425 2nd Street NE
Washington, D.C. 20002

Phone: 202-675-6000

That’s not enforceable. It’s looks nice on paper, but it is an illusory statute.

The enforceable statute for a challenge is to look for all the voters who asked for a Democrat two weeks ago who then asked for a Republican ballot this time around.

That is an illegal vote.

Now, you could still argue that even if the vote is illegal, there is no proof of how the person voted. And the ballot serial numbers are not recorded with the voter. All that is left is a reasonable person's assumption that the illegal votes went to Cochran.

Somebody could drag out all these people who are on record as having voted illegally and make examples of them, but then you will get the "racist" disenfranchising claim.

Which is kind of funny because it was the blacks in Mississippi who disenfranchised the white Republicans this time.

Was there a pastor of a Black church that told parishioners to vote for Cochran?

If so, take away their tax-exempt status.

They simply have calculated they can rid themselves of us bitter clingers, keep the moderates and make up the difference with Dems.

they also calculated that most clingers will continue deluding themselves that the GOP is/are trying to win.

the reality of course is they are fully Democrat and are playing their role as the incremental pressure relief valve for the political process. As long as the rat does not know it lives in a cage, it thinks it’s in the forest.

My theory is that Barbour and Rove know that Cochran is a dead-man walking.

The strategy was to get him reelected, and then in December he resigns and the governor gets to pick his replacement without a vote of the people.

The interim hand-picked Senator will be there for the remainder of Obama's presidency until the next federal election.

According to the first post Hinds County.

Cochran won by 11,300 votes in tonight's runoff. and he won by 5,000 votes on the Jun 3rd primary. Those extra votes are the blacks and democrats Cochran targeted and were the difference between winning and losing.

A robo call went out stating "say no to the tea party"

About half the votes in this election were cast for the Tea Party candidate. He will need these voters in November, because the crossover Democrats who voted for him in the primary will be voting for their own candidate. Can he win them over?

Normally I might agree he should just conceded but there’s too much at stake here. It’s not about November, it’s about stopping the establishment from cheating their own party out of an election. If he just accepts it and moves on, there will only be more of this kind of thing as it will be considered a winning strategy.

So he files a lawsuit and says...

The vague statute on the MS books says they ‘should’ vote for the party in the general they vote for in the primary.

How can he prove who ANYONE voted for when voting is confidential?

How can he prove who they WILL vote for in the general election?

It’s a total loser of a case.

The only wins would be people who ON RECORD in the first election voted in the Dem primary instead who then were allowed, contrary to law, to vote for the Republican this time around.

Is that 5,000 people?

I seriously doubt it.

Filing and losing KILLS his future statewide office chances.

Go ask Woody Jenkins how that went down in Louisiana. He never won another race after having had a U.S. Senate seat stolen from him in New Orleans. The precincts there voted hours after poling had closed (”People were in line”) and turned in their votes an hour or two after the rest of the entire state. Was a pure steal.

He sued. Lost. Was forever branded a ‘sore loser’ and never won a statewide race. Career killer.

did Hinds county have a noticeable increase in participation, where would one go to get the numbers for that kind of comparison. I would think in a challenge there would be certain counties with anomalies exceeding others, making them the prime targets for investigation... or am I just dumb?
