Joe Biden: Guys, I assure you I, too, am super-poor

Noah mentioned this in his piece about the ridiculous Democratic race to the bottom income bracket, but it deserves its own space. This kind of mess will continue to happen until reporters stop asking the question because there’s really no good answer. “Income inequality” is an evil of American society, according to the Democratic Party. In running against Republicans, especially Mitt Romney, every high-profile Democrat has made it his business to equate rich with evil. And, not just evil, but congenitally unable to understand or adjust policy to reflect the problems of real people. If that’s true for Romney, it’s surely worth a question for Hillary. And, Hillary’s bumbling answers—thrice over, now!—have made it a question reporters looking to raise their profiles would be wise to ask because it clearly precipitates gaffes.

Here’s Vice President Joe Biden assuring the American people he doesn’t even have a savings account. Which, pardon me, am I supposed to be comforted by the idea of a man one heartbeat from the presidency who runs over to the corner check-cashing place with his Ray-Bans on every Friday with his big Veep check?

To be sure, Biden is among the poorer of the political class’s revolving door, cronied up denizens. By which I still mean, wealthy:

When he joined the Obama ticket in 2008, Biden was the poorest senator (though, as Politifact reported at the time, poorest senator is still far wealthier than the average American.) In this year’s White House financial disclosure, Biden listed assets “valued at $276,000 to $940,000, including a rental property owned jointly with his wife, Jill,” according to USA Today. President Obama’s assets were “valued at about $2 million to $7 million.”

Also, he has a savings account.

People, please stop trying to normalize it.

Stop the presses, Joan Walsh and I mostly agree. Though she posits that these arguments would be stronger if Democrats pivoted from their wealth to hawking a progressive tax policy. Which, isn’t that already the strategy? Perhaps it’d work better if they walked the walk.

That man is just so weapons grade stupid it isn’t even funny. It’s almost like an Olympic Gold Medal winner competing in the Special Olympics. He’s just not all there.

Something is going on — the very rich are vying with each other to tell the world how poor they are...

Is being poor now a virtue in this country?

This is the same Joe Biden who charges the Secret Service $1,585 per month for the privilege of protecting his Delaware home.

Biden’s disclosed net worth is shockingly low. I’ve seen aerial photos of his spread, and it’s a multimillion dollar affair. Also, two of his sons are lobbyists. Whose influence have they been selling?

So, I don’t believe Joe’s claims, or at least I think they have been “parsed” in the sense that maybe he’s put a lot of funds into trust, or his wife’s name, etc.

To give an example of this parsing, along the lines of Clinton’s famous comment on “it depends on what the meaning of is is:”

A couple of days ago Biden stated that he didn’t own a single stock or bond. But, according to FOX, he owned at least 11 investment funds (which are composed of multiple stocks and/or bonds).

Asshat!

It is the arrogance of a completely disconnected elitist Democrat aristocracy that has absolutely no idea of what the common man and woman endures in their daily life. No idea whatsoever.

The media has allowed them to lie, blather and pontificate for so long, they have come to believe in their own deity and that they can say anything and it will be believed and revered. He got over on the man, and they celebrated it.

To my mind, they are horribly wrong. They, in fact, would be better served in reveling in their opulence and lifestyle ala MTV’s Cribs, or wearing all the gold bling and $1000 sneaks, sweats and lounge pants. Put some spinner 22s on the VP limo and all that. To understand this, all one need do is to think back on the day of the OJ verdict and then to recall the reaction of the nearest black person.

There must be a huge market for Horatio Alger stories in reverse...the richest becoming the poorest through dint of hard work.

It is when you claim (quite falsely, in the case of socialist bastards like democrats) to be a hero of the oppressed working class.

That’s total baloney.

However according to a website, his net worth is a half a million dollars, which really isn’t that much.

There is a picture of his estate out there in the internet thingy. His estate is worth way over a 1/2 mil. One look at his Delaware mansion makes that case.
