Sunday on NBCs Meet the Press," Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) warned conservatives when it comes to immigration reform the party needs to get beyond the term amnesty and move the focus to border security and work visas. The Kentucky Republican said, "I don't think any immigration reform will get out of Washington. I do think there is a path to a secure border and an expanded work visa program."
I think that everyone needs to be for some form of immigration reform because the status quo is untenable," he continued. "So I consider myself a bridge to conservative community because Im about as conservative as they come, a little libertarian too ... If we do nothing, 11 million more people will come illegally, so we have to do something.

Geez, this guy is crapping all over himself lately.
Rand is working for the democrats.
Randy can KMA. How ‘bout some work jobs for Americans first! We’ll hand out the VISA cards to the Guatemalans, Hondurans and El Salvadorans in their welcome baskets.
So he’s joined Team McConnell/Boehner has he? I’ll bet McCain no longer calls him a wackobird.
Hey Rand, BLEEP YOU.
If the border is not controlled all else is just hot wind.
I’m sick and tired of walking through the door of the company I work for into a sea of H1B visas: Indians, Chinese, Russians, and Poles.
How about terminating the H1B program altogether and giving jobs to Americans?
The ironic part is that Rand was running stronger before he started talking like this.
Marco Rubio will co-sponsor, right?
Hmmmm....sounds like Randie got the exact, same *Amnesty* memo that Brit Hume got...on the night of the (epic/glorious) Cantor upset.
His ego is so big he might run as an independent if he loses the republican nomination. He might pull more votes from the democrat candidate then the republican. He’s out there.
My head is gonna explode.
Eleven million people are coming because the government refuses to enforce current immigration laws. So what do you propose? More laws the government will refuse to enforce.
No vote for you, Rand. You've jumped the tiburon.
Well somebody needs to tell Rand Paul that first about 70% of the people who pick our crops are US citizens. Second we already have about 40 guest worker programs already in place which I feel sure can accommodate the other 30% of the foreign (Mexican) farmworkers we need.
11 million illegals who are here already don’t need a visa has they could probably have signed up for one of the existing guest worker programs. Most of these illegals are not looking for farmwork. They are looking for construction work or plantwork. These are jobs Americans could and should be doing.
Every time some plant gets raided and they haul off a 100 illegals thousands of Americans line up the next day for the jobs.
How about this idea: Send them to Hawaii and Illinois, Obama's home state and adopted state. I'm sure the good people of those states in Hawaii and Illinois would be most happy to greet as many of the illegal immigrant children as Obama can send them.
But I forgot this: I think Hawaii, with its large Asian population, only accepts illegal immigrants who sneak into Hawaii from Asia.
To control our southern borders and stop the thousands of children from Latin America from sneaking into the United States, we need at least two new amendments to the Constitution, something like this:
1. "School attendance: Only citizens, legal residents, those with special student visas can attend elementary, high school, and colleges in the United States."
2. "One parent must be a citizen before a newborn child is given automatic citizenship."
3. Felony: We must finally declare that crossing the border illegally is a felony.
Illegal parents come to the United States for the wonderful benefits that their children can receive, like a quality education and great health care. Can you blame them for making the dangerous, long trip with their young children, or sending their children by themselves with the hope that the United States will automatically let them stay?
I don't understand how a child can illegally cross the southern border one day and automatically be eligible to enroll in public school the next day. That is wrong.
I'm in farm country in NC, and there are entire communities that are hispanic, and the other communities are dominated by hispanic YOUTH. American youth are not staying to farm .
As for law enforcement, my county makes $1,500 per DWI in fines off of each migrant (legal or illegal). 20 drunks are hauled in per week. That is in excess of 80K a month of extra income for pension funds for county employees.
That is why no one wants to deport.
CC
Work visa, maybe, AFTER the border has been verifiably secured. And never - NEVER - for anyone who has already crossed the border illegally.
B/S! Enforce the law! Secure the borders!!
Yeah, I know. we’re really hurting for workers. /s
