Special Forces troops heading to Iraq to advise the Iraqi security forces will not receive combat pay but will have immunity from local law, Pentagon officials said Friday.
"This is not a combat mission, they are not being sent to participate in combat," said Rear Adm. John Kirby, the Pentagon press secretary, of the 300 Special Forces troops ordered to Iraq by President Obama on Thursday.
Consequently, the troops would not be eligible for "imminent danger pay" of $7.50 daily up to $225 per month for service members in areas where they could be at grave risk, Kirby said.
Kirby said danger pay ended for U.S. troops with the withdrawal of forces at the end of 2011, and Iraq currently was no longer considered a combat zone in terms of pay and benefits for U.S. troops.

Might cut into all the cash we are spending on illegals and welfare types who are buying KFC and their EBT cards.

Well - It’s not as if they were being sent to Chicago...
Can one be awarded danger pay retroactively? Posthumously?
Friggin’ unbelievable
Lord, watch over them.
Whatever happened to all the Iraqi police and military we’d trained in the years before we pulled out? If we couldn’t train them to protect themselves the first time, what makes the powers that be think it will work this time?!
Meanwhile, Lois Lerner remains on the fed payroll.
I’m with you. Stunned.
And.....don’t forget Mooch has to have her vaca’s and of course Liar in Chief has to have his golf
It is a hostile environment which constitutes as combat zone...just wait, before w know it they will be up to their
eyeballs in combat. these soldiers are in harms way, and deserve the combat pay.....cheap bastards in Washington.
Bring plenty of Body Bags.
soetoro setting them up to be murdered. Like “Predator” fawning over his accumulated skulls.
Hmmm. $7.50 per day extra to risk your life for some nonsense mission. Sign me up!
Let’s jump into the Wayback Machine and set the dial for 1959 when similar pronouncements about “no combat” were stated for the Special Forces “advisors” sent to Viet Nam. IIRC, 1959 is the year we recognize our first combat loss in that war.
These troops are walking into a death trap. THe Iranians, the Sunnis, every terrorist hooligan has a trophy on their heads.
The Iranians will not allow us back there. They orchestrated our leaving, and Obama fell for the trap.
Now we’re back again, kinda reminds me of Reagan putting in the marines in Lebanon. The Iranians will find someway to kill or capture some so there will be a cry in this country to withdraw completely.
If they are able to capture just one of our soldiers, then the game is over. They will empty out Gitmo and let Obama spin for the remainder of his ridiculous presidency.
I’m waiting for the report that they won’t be allowed to carry weapons WITH ammunition in the country.
We have been told that our Marines at embassies around the world aren’t allowed to have weapons and ammo so what about the ones they say are protecting the embassy in Baghdad? Do they have weapons and ammo? Or are they supposed to do all that protecting by staring at the enemy?
