IMHO, the answer is very tight term limits. It is my understanding that limits are on the agenda for a Convention of the States held under Article V of the Constitution.

Term limits should be either 12 or 16 years. I prefer 12 years. If Washington (and I’m speaking in general, not just the Congress) is going to be corrupt then our elected officials need minimum exposure. Corruption will end if they are not there long enough to be corrupted.

If the Convention of States ever gets off the ground, they need to reverse Senators being popularly elected & go back to states appointing someone to represent the State. That would take care of one issue.

And I would limit congressional reps to one term in, & they can only serve again after one term out. And end ALL retirement benefits for both Senators & Representatives. They need to be incentivized to make it in the real world & gov’t service should be SERVICE - not the road to wealth.

Totally agree. Term limits will get the job done. Even then we have to watch or they go from House to senate you could be looking at 24 years there, too much.
