To: Jim Robinson

I’m not much of computer tech, but I have been under the impression that with back up service company, anything I delete from my computer will also be deleted in my backup...am I wrong about that?

Ah but wait these emails were not deleted, they were lost in a supposed crash.

That’s the reason for back up...my bad

No, the whole purpose of having an independent 3rd party provider is to have a daily archiving and preservation of emails which stay in place no matter what is done later.

So if this is accurate, then unless this firm colludes with the IRS, then they’ll be able to get those emails.

Government backups live forever. Getting things back can be troublesome but email archives are the easiest to get back.

Depends. In the business world they usually archive emails so individual users can’t destroy evidence.

Yes, you are wrong about that. Deleted emails are not ‘deleted’. They are only removed from your active list. They still exist.
