He looked confused and was dithering today. Is that his normal mode of operation? Head down, eyes barely open, not normal!
He'll probably end up in Cambodia or somewhere.
“...Harry Truman, Dwight Eisenhower or Ronald Reagan might have thought the object of military action was simple: victory. But in Obamas world victory is an obsolete word. And consequently there is no yardstick against which his military options can be meaningfully measured.
Much has been made of the presidents deployment of up to 375 troops in Iraq. Is that a small number or a big number? It depends. If Obama intends to win against his foes it is probably about 30,000 men too few. If he has no intention of winning against anybody and he is just using the men as a stopgap to kill time until the story goes away then it is 375 too many.
If youre not going to win in some definable sense, why bother to play? President Obama has no coherent definition of winning, no metric of what it means to be ahead. The very notion of triumphing has somehow become evil. Instead he has raised process to an end it itself and plays a scoreless game in a world of local contexts. His goal is merely to be perceived as engaged and acting responsibly whatever that means.”

From the AP:
But he was adamant that U.S. troops would not be returning to combat.
“We do not have the ability to simply solve this problem by sending in tens of thousands of troops and committing the kinds of blood and treasure that has already been expended in Iraq,” Obama told reporters in the White House briefing room. “Ultimately, this is something that is going to have to be solved by Iraqis.”
Sketching a dire situation, Obama called this a moment when “the state of Iraq hangs in the balance” and cautioned that “there’s not going to be a simple military solution.”
He stopped short of calling for Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki to resign, saying “it’s not our job to choose Iraq’s leaders.” But he said those leaders “must rise above their differences and come together” for the sake of their nation.
“Let’s not plunge this back into the abyss,” he said.
Dick Cheney also ratcheted up his personal attacks on Obama, saying that foreign leaders had told him they believe the president secretly supports anti-American organizations.
The pair also announced the formation of a new anti-Obama political group, The Alliance for a Strong America and posted a new video online to accompany the announcement , a 501(c)(4)a non-profit organization which lists its stated goal as reversing President Obamas policies.
The policies of the last six years have left America diminished and weakened, Cheney says in the video. Our enemies no longer fear us. Our allies no longer trust us.
Being the POTUS ages you quickly. Obama looks about 20 years older than when he first took office. Same thing happened with Bush.
Doesn’t mean he isn’t drugged, but it could be he is burning out.
Obama To Iraq: Go To Hell.
to sum it up...... he said the word AH in the neighborhood of 300 times....and little else.
His vacay travel and golf schedule is murderous.
I wonder if his doctors will order some rest at Camp David.
Gee,,good thing Bush brought the UN into Iraq to destroy what weapons Saddam had at the time. Just think how much worse it would be now if ISIS got their hands on all the chem/bio that used to be there....even the munitions...
All the weapons the UN destroyed in Iraq would be in the hands of ISIS right now......if it weren’t for Bush
In a press conference today, President Obama announced that the U.S. was relocating some personnel out of Iraq, and sending reinforcements for the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad.
Obama also stated that there would be increased monitoring and surveillance of ISIL insurgents, and increased military support for Iraq, including joint operations centers in Baghdad.
Additional equipment also would be sent, in addition to a small number of American military advisors, up to 300.
But, he emphasized, American forces will not be returning to combat in Iraq
The U.S. is prepared, though, to take precise military action if circumstances warranted, but not to support one sect against another.
As to failure to leave residual forces, Obama said that was a decision made by the Iraqi government.
We can only hope..
Whys is it ISIS and ISIL? I always think they use multiple words to keep the majority off target about what’s really up.
"If fired upon, we expect them to just lay down their arms and go quietly."
Michael Jackson seemed to have that same problem, I recall.
