"A spokesman for the Iraqi prime minister, Nouri al-Maliki, has said he will not stand down as a condition of US air strikes against Sunni militants who have made a lightning advance across the country."
******
Dianne Feinstein, the chair of the Senate intelligence committee, told a hearing on Wednesday that Maliki's government "has got to go if you want any reconciliation", and Republican John McCain called for the use of US air power but also urged Obama to "make very clear to Maliki that his time is up".

Obama is said to be still weighing military options, and US officials for days have quietly signalled that a decision is not imminent.

Thank you for that info., but still, he was “indirectly” elected. I’m not sure getting rid of him at this point in time would stop ISIS from advancing or do much of anything of value.
Yes Vito, we will do this favor for you, but you must do this favor us, capisce ?
This is how a true world leader and honest and moral person would respond.
We will give you everything we can to stop the aggressive Islamic terrorist forces. After we have moved them back and the situation is secure and your countries people are safe, we will discuss future ways to make sure this situation does not occur in the future.
Why doesn’t Maliki bomb the ISIS troops? Iraq must have an Air Force.
They don’t. We blew up what little they had left after 1991 on our way in during 2003. Iraq has been rebuilding since then.
Well they have some fixed-wing aircraft and some helicopters with Hellfire missiles, but nothing substantial. This one guy who used to post here, DJ Elliott, has been following the Iraqi military’s rebuild closely. He used to post at Long War Journal, Bill Roggio’s site.
So, I guess Feinstein is all for nation building after all.
We sacrifice 5,000 soldiers so the Iraqis can vote. Then we tell them their votes don’t count. Of course, they don’t count here either.
The fact is Maliki can tell Obama and McCain to go eff themselves. They don’t want Iraq to fall anymore than Maliki does. Actually I’m not sure about that.
Obama WANTS Iraq to fall. If it does, he has another thing to blame Bush on.
ah, we were supposed to give them fighters, but hey, come to think of it, COINCIDENTALLY, the delivery wasn’t made. The 200 contractors who were trapped at the airport were preparing for the delivery.
So...the administration and the Russians didn’t want the president of Iraq to get the fighters. Get the rebels of Syria to to to Iraq before they can defend themselves and cause the diversion of non-delivery.
