WASHINGTON The U.S. Patent Office ruled Wednesday that the Washington Redskins nickname is "disparaging of Native Americans" and that the team's federal trademarks for the name must be canceled.
The 2-1 ruling comes after a campaign to change the name has gained momentum over the past year. The team doesn't immediately lose trademark protection and is allowed to retain it during an appeal.

Elizabeth Warren, on the other hand, will be allowed to have her ballot listing for POTUS as Pocahontas Herring Warren.

Um, shouldn’t the U.S. Patent Office be punished for issuing a trademark for this “disparaging” name in the first place?

The government are actually going to FORCE them to change this name. Well, they are free to continue to use the name without trademark protection. Of course they then cannot prevent anyone else from using the name for whatever products and services the trademark granted protection for. So, arguably, they may be forced indirectly to choose a new name out of commercial considerations. Note that IP rights such as patents and trademarks do not grant a right for use by the owner but the right to stop third parties from using that what is protected.

So the court, to stop offending Native Americans with the name, are going to open the name up to be used by everyone. Liberal logic.

I think we should obliterate any mention of how mean the European and White skinned people were to people of color. We should not be be bad mouthing Indians, if the meanWhiteman had not come to this continent every thing would be OK: For example: "The Crow Creek massacre occurred around 1325 AD between Indian groups in the South Dakota area. Crow Creek Site, the site of the massacre near Chamberlain, is an archaeological site and a U.S. National Historic Landmark, located at co-ordinates 43°58′48″N 99°19′54″W." Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crow_Creek_massacre Graphic of the brotherly love of the Indians for each other. http://www.iupui.edu/~mstd/e316/crowcreek.html I live Upstate New York and the terrorism of the Indians against Indians historic: e.g.: Neutral Indians: "Around 1650, during a period now loosely referred to as the Beaver Wars, the Iroquois Confederacy declared war on the Attawandaron; by 1653, the Confederacy had practically annihilated the smaller people, destroying their villages, including Kandoucho.[4][7] The last mention of the Neutrals in French records was in 1671.[1] Wikipedia"

Yes, but it was just a panel, not a court.
And they said the logo was okay and still trademarked...
“The case involves six registered trademarks that involve the use of the word Redskins, but it does not apply to the team’s logo.”

Sadly, next up will really be Atlanta Braves, KC Chiefs, Cleveland Indians etc etc.
KC already has a stupid ‘wolfie’ mascot, in lieu of an Indian, because of this PC stuff.
