Well, I do keep making the same mistake of assuming that key republicans don't identify more closely with the ruling elite of the other party than they do with common Americans most impacted by their policies.

But I have to guess that Bush has really strong feelings about what he sees Obama doing with what he and the US military accomplished in Iraq and Afghanistan. Maybe not.

Well I would hope he did.

I just wonder about the guy sometimes. He didn’t seem to have the fire in the belly Conservatism. On some things, he just didn’t have it in him to know which way to go. It was a struggle.

His pappy was an international player. I think it’s tough for kids to come away from that influence and not be a little bit of an internationalist themselves.

We know how those sorts of people see things. It’s not quite like you and I do.

Still, as you say, Bush has vested some time in the Iraq situation. And as it relates to his dad’s internationalist nature, it would seem this would play to Bush’s strength.
