When I was 24, I had cancer removed from my face. I had extensive plastic surgeries, huge black stitches, blood clots and heavy bruising (that had all colors of the rainbow) which lasted several weeks. When I was able to venture out for groceries, the stares and whispers were just awful. Even a month afterwards, I would be out with friends and see people drop napkins, stretch and yawn loudly in an effort to not look so obvious when trying to catch a glimpse of my still bruised and heavily scarred face.

The scars from my surgeries and recovery have faded but they never will from people’s cruelty. I can understand curiosity, but most of the stares, finger pointing and whispers were from adults who thought I had been beaten.

A pox on the KFC employee’s house. That little girl’s fleeting smile is worth more than your pathetic, worthless, empty life. Enjoy spending the rest of your life looking in the mirror and seeing you staring back.

I don't think what you experienced was cruel at all....It was sad and difficult to see. No hate. No cruelty....

I learned "There goes I but for the grace of God" but I would have still have looked away from you.

No pox to the employee. Pox to the Grandfather and his 11....yes eleven...pitbulls.

Wow - some people just have a hard time getting sarcasm. And you are apparently one of them. My point to the poster was that her comment had no relevance to what happened to the little girl and in no way justified what the manager did to the little girl.
