Republicans are sounding the warning that the next 9/11-like terror plot could emerge from the regions of Iraq and Syria that are currently dominated by an extremist group bearing down on Baghdad.
As the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) - which has already captured the cities of Tikrit and Mosul and is threatening to take the capital city as well - grows in strength and numbers, will it pose an immediate threat to the United States homeland as well?
Experts say the group's increasing power and reach is concerning, though it's not entirely clear when they might be able to threaten the U.S.
"You've got motivation mixed with opportunity, ideology and foreign fighters and all of that looks like a very extreme version of Afghanistan in the '90s, plus what was happening in Iraq after the Iraq war," said CBS News National Security Analyst Juan Zarate. "This is a cauldron of future terrorist threats to the west."
The bigger danger, Zarate said, is that the U.S. does not yet know exactly what the group will look like once it evolves. While ISIS might not launch an attack on U.S. soil tomorrow, he said, "I think the grave threat here is that you have the seeds of a new terrorist movement emerging very aggressively."

They need no excuse. They are ALWAYS plotting. But the politicians always have to scare the sheep to keep them from focusing on the real problem in America ... the politicians.
You’re right, it won’t be anything like 911. It will be more like a Mosul 2014 style attack. The Blue State Dhimmicrats won’t know what hit them. 0 will have planned it, and he’ll parlay it into exec action on guns. Then, the powder keg will explode and millions will die. The LIV’s and the elites’ heads will be spinning. “I didn’t see this coming.” It will be more than Obama and the lefties bargained for when good, peaceful people release pent up passion.
How sad it is that this apparently must happen before people wake up.

I believe obama will make a deal that no attack on the U.S. mainland can take place until there is a Republican administration. He will continue to support them as long as there is no attack.

In Iraq and Syria they have access to far more 21st. Century infrastructure than AQ ever did in Afghanistan.

Is ISIS/ISIL really concerned with some grandiose plan like 911? Some of the 911 hijackers were fooled into doing a suicide operation, they thought it was a hijacking. That planning with fickle participants, is that in keeping with the dicipline that ISIS/ISIL displays?
They could just put four guys out in a car on a highway near you and start macine gunning the cars they pass. They might easily shoot up 50 cars before they run out of ammo or before they are stopped. That could happen any and it could happen again the next day -that’s effective terrorism.
Or, as we have seen they have very effective (masked) death squads. They could send their star death squad here, we can’t identify them. They may have no record under another Nationality. They could send a death squad with a senced pistol, and camera of coarse, to a Senator’s house, congressmen’s house, or better yet a celebrity. They could then easily slip away and post thier video. Again, that could happen any and it could happen again the next day -that’s effective terrorism.

Actually, they just used it to blame Bush. He became the enemy, not the towelheads.
