Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., warned that the next 9/11 attack could emanate from Iraq and Syria if the U.S. does not take steps to immediately halt the advance of the Islamic militants sweeping toward the Iraqi capital of Baghdad.
"We need air power immediately to stop the advance toward Baghdad," Graham said on CBS' "Face the Nation" Sunday, warning that the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) - the jihadists who are an offshoot of al Qaeda - could control the entire northern half of the country and use it to march on Jordan and Lebanon while Iran moves in to control the south.

The South Carolina senator added that the director of national intelligence and the head of the FBI have both warned that ISIS, also known as the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant, or ISIL, has promised to carry out the next 9/11 attacks.
"I think it's inevitable. The seeds of 9/11 are being planted all over Iraq and Syria. You don't have to believe me, this is what they're telling you they're gonna do. They're not hiding their agenda. They want an Islamic caliphate," Graham said. "They plan to drive us out of the Mideast by attacking us here at home."
President Obama said Friday that while the U.S. will not send combat troops back to Iraq, he has asked his national security team to "prepare a range of other options." He also added that any U.S. action will have to be accompanied by a "serious and sincere effort by Iraq's leaders to set aside sectarian differences."

I don't agree with him on everything, but he is SPOT ON with this assessment. Moreover, when Paul Ryan raped military veterans last December by cutting their pensions, it was Graham and Sen Ayotte who were outraged and took to the Senate floor to condemn it. The rest of the GOP were AWOL on that issue.
On foreign policy, Graham is consistent and well versed.

Sorry folks he plays conservatives not for our benefit, but to get elected and to remain on the US Senate gravy train. He and McCain are joined at the hip and appear regularly on Meet The Press as though they alone know what America needs, which is mostly being screwed for their pet immigration and make war projects. I can no longer stomach listening to or looking at him.
American needs impeachments because of executive incompetence and theft of our Constitutional rights, and instead we get more idiocy from Graham and McCain.
It does not matter one whit what Graham is or is not. He is absolutely correct here in his assessment of a caliphate in Iraq/Syria.
Might explain the recent influx of Syrians that are working at convenience stores in our neighborhoods that just arrived in the past year...

Well, if he is “well versed” than he must be schizophrenic. Previously, he was demanding that action be taken against the Assad regime to include arming and financing its opponents. Of course the opponents’ biggest element was the ISIS. Now that ISIS is SUCCESSFULLY establishing a GEOGRAPHIC Al-Queda, covering eastern Syria and A THIRD of Iraq, the imbecile says “hey, it’s time to switch sides”.
Little Lindsey is a RESERVE military Attorney-—you know, those idiots who came up with the Rules of Engagement that our forces must comply with and, in many instances, that have resulted in unnecessary American deaths. Yes, he’s THAT kind of military guy; not the kind that has some realistic understanding of how to close with and destroy America’s enemies.
