A three word text was released from inside the Embassy about six hours ago: Too late Alamo. That message is open to interpretation.
Just minutes ago news came from within the United States Embassy in Baghdad that the Iraqis have shut down internet service for those barricaded inside. Limited text messages via private cell phones are still coming through.
It is unknown how many of the more than 5,000 U.S. civilians in Baghdad are actually taking refuge inside the embassy compound. NBC war correspondent, Richard Engel reported last night that civilians in and around Baghdad have boarded up residences and businesses.
The embassy lockup is a reminder of when Saddam Hussein invaded Kuwait in August of 1990 and U.S. civilians were held hostage for months, including those from the State Department and Department of Transportation.
This week ISIS terrorists operating in Iraq have toppled Fallujah, Ramadi, Tikrit, and Mosul, robbing the Bank of Mosul for more than $450 million dollars. ISIS leaders now claim they are the richest terror group in the world, topping al Qaeda and Hamas. This militant group has vowed to overrun Baghdad, the nation's capital, and eliminate the Shiite ruling party.

And that means that the CIA knew for some time. And the military new for some time. And the Dems knew and the GOP knew.
Did any of them DO anything to prevent thousands of American soldiers lives from being lost in vain?
nope. Not one got on TV and said “Mr.President, Don’t piss this away”.
Not one.
And people wonder why I rail the ‘opposition’ party.
700 billion
If I was ISIS, I would be moving my armored divisions (the tanks they captured) to that airport now. Iraq’s air capability is poor, and Tehran would take a while to scramble any response. Once the airport is captured, they can jack a jet and fly it into Baghdad central.
I’ve seen a couple of probable reporters trolling Twitter trying to verify it. No confirmation from any credible source yet.
Oops. Duplicated yours. Searched “twitter” on the page, didn’t catch “tweets.”
Any bets on what a barrel of oil is going to cost tomorrow afternoon?
I don’t think they’ll evaporate per se. The shias will put up somewhat of a fight. But we have 2 sides involved that both hate America with the Iraqi gov’t being ambivalent. Iran isn’t going to help us. ISIS ain’t going to help us. The embassy is essentially waiting for someone to pluck it. Whether it’ll be Iranians or ISIS. Who knows.
A week from now will be the time frame because oil was already purchased for this week about a month or six weeks ago, and this weeks gas will be determined by the cost of a barrel of oil at the time of the purchase....prices are changed weekly. Now there are a few gougers...but consumers usually punish them later.
Believe it was 750 million. That’s still a lotta licorice.
Now, now. Let’s not impugn caligula’s reputation by association with dear leader. After all, caligula DID have the good sense to make his horse a senator.

CNN isn’t much better. They are running a special on the OJ chase in the white Bronco.
No wonder we have so many LIVs.
I fear that there exists a distinct possibility that Americans will be captured and die horrible deaths. A few will be spared for negotiations.
Looks like Baghdad is being surrounded.
missions like these is why we have a 75th Ranger Regiment, to clear and hold airports. Just a matter of will to use them. Also, we could hold the Green Zone with Marines if we needed to. I really don’t think anyone is going to mind us blasting ISIS off of the planet.
I’d guess the troops are just there as cover for the evacuation.
I don’t care. If Muslims slaughter each other, that’s good for us.
Fewer of them around to slaughter us. They both hate us and as the old saying goes, no good deed goes unpunished.
May their internecine warfare last forever and may both sides lose.
