ISIS photographs detail execution of Iraqi soldiers (WARNING GRAPHIC PHOTOS)

The Islamic State of Iraq and the Sham's administrative division in Salahaddin proudly displayed photographs of the capture and execution of Iraqi soldiers after it took over a base in the province.

The graphic photographs were released today on the Twitter account belonging to Wilayat Salahaddin, or Salahaddin Division. The ISIS has divided its "state" in Iraq and Syria into 16 administrative units, or wilayats.

The stream of photographs begins by showing ISIS fighters in dirt-caked pickup trucks with machine guns mounted in the beds traveling to Tasfirat prison in the city of Tikrit, and then launching an assault with dismounted troops. Tikrit fell to the ISIS earlier this week.

After capturing the base, the ISIS takes photographs of dozens of US-supplied armored Humvees, Ford and Chevy pickup trucks, and various military transport and supply vehicles that were left behind.

ISIS fighters are then photographed posing over the bloodied and mutilated corpses of the slain soldiers. The ISIS photos show the capture, transport, and execution of scores of Iraqi soldiers. Most of the soldiers are in civilian clothes, but some are seen wearing civilian clothes over their uniforms.

Iraqi soldiers had reportedly shed their uniforms and deserted en masse as the ISIS blitzkrieg advanced from Mosul to Tikrit and on to the outskirts of Samarra in the course of one week. At least four Iraqi Army divisions are said to have melted away during the ISIS onslaught.

In the photos, the Iraqi soldiers are rounded up at gunpoint and placed on flatbed trucks, some of which appear to have been captured from the base. Some of the ISIS fighters are seen holding US-made M-16 assault rifles, which had been issued to the Iraqi Army and police forces.

The ISIS fighters then order the frightened soldiers to lie face down in shallow ditches, with their hands behind their backs. ISIS fighters then open fire on the unarmed prisoners of war.

The ISIS is said to have executed thousands of Iraqi soldiers during its southward advance to Baghdad. Several Iraqi military bases are believed to have been overrun. Forward Operating Base Speicher, which once was a major US military hub in Salahaddin province, was reportedly seized by the ISIS during its southward push.

Over the past week, the ISIS took control of Ninewa and most of Salahaddin province, as well as parts of Diyala province. Most of Anbar province fell under ISIS control in January.

Japan was in most ways considerably more civilized than Arab countries today. Remodeling their culture consisted largely of deleting A and encouraging B.

We also had the immense advantage of the tacit or open support of the Emperor, as well as the psychological impact of utter and crushing defeat.

Finally, the Japanese have always been a people peculiarly anxious to import foreign ideas, though adapting them to their own uses. The Meiji Restoration and Japanese political history up through the 20s was largely that of an extended attempt to impose western-style civil society on Japan.

The militaristic revival after that and thru WWII was a xenophobic return to (one aspect of) Japanese native culture. When it failed so completely, they were entirely open to new ideas.

I don’t think we have any of that in the Middle East.

The only problem with your analysis is the notion that Assad, Saddam and Mubarak and their ilk were a stable form of government that could be maintained infedinitely.

It is much more likely, in my less the entirely expert opinion, that stresses have been building up in the Middle East for decades. The Shah was the first domino to fall from the post-war settlement, but the others were inevitably also doomed. The WWI settlement and boundaries have little relationship to the facts on the ground and are thus liable to eventual collapse. Which is not to say that whatever replaces them will be an improvement, from either our perspective or that of the inhabitants of the area.

America’s involvement may have precipitated the collapse, and there are certainly legitimate arguments that it would have been a good idea for us to stay out of the area.

But IMO it is just silly to think that everything would be stable and peaceful in the Middle East today if America just hadn’t invaded Iraq.

All Muslim “society’s” are at a critical moment. Every Muslim country is at war within and with all their neighbors. It is a side effect of being a governmental death cult that makes it a religious high point to slaughter all the non “true” believers, Muslim or not.

If, on being shown the superiority of a semi Christian culture, with justice and kindness they cannot choose anything but murder as religion, don’t blame America for not reforming them.

I would say Iraq is a perfect example and proof for the necessity of the use of nuclear weapons to stop suicidal cults. Might I point out that Hiroshima defeated the Kamikazes, not social reform. In Iraq social reform failed, perhaps because we did not use nuclear weapons to demonstrate our resolve. Perhaps because we never had enough resolve in the first place, defeat in social engineering was predetermined?

If you do not really know what you stand for, you may still stand, but for nothing, and that is what you will accomplish.

Greeting from a once great Republic, that is trying National Socialism and getting the Nazi Party in return, just like when Europe tried the same thing.

My guess is we are too stupid to learn from your mistakes, that makes us double dumb...
