Multiple videos have been posted online showing what uploaders described as hockey fans destroying a Los Angeles Police Department drone outside the Staples Center Friday night after the LA Kings won the NHL's Stanley Cup. Riot police were called in to break up what the LA Times described as a "melee" outside the arena following the King's victory over the New York Rangers.
In one clip posted online, a drone can be seen hovering over the crowd of hockey fans before it was knocked out of the sky by people throwing shoes and clothing:

This thread is something I would have had a hard time imagining back in 1996 when I first found FR via an altavista search.

Yep, the 'full military honors' bit the cops do because they are wanna be 'serving their country' types with flags folded into triangles, causing gridlock for miles with their freshly waxed squad cars, belt buckles and shoes and salutes... The full militarization of our police departments continues..""
That ain't military show, it's"UNION SOLIDARITY"...

The police shouldn’t be allowed to have drones until they prove capable of policing themselves.

Because police in America are using drones, or because we’re cheering the drone’s destruction?

Thanks for the reference, but I've had good luck with, er, uh, I mean, I
would probably have good luck with my hand loaded 12 gauge, 3 & 1/2 inch #4 turkey load from a Xtra-full choke turkey barrel on my 1100.
One km, though, that's not bad.
Where can I get some depleted uranium?

“If a drone loiters over my propertythats too much like the book 1984, and the drone must die.”
If it’s low enough, 00 out to do it. Out of range for that, a Savage 110 with good scope...in either 308 or 30-06.

It is extremely dangerous to fly these things so close to crowds. The four blades on this thing are revolving ay over 10,000 rpm. Contact with a person could easily be fatal.
Who ever was flying this should go to jail.

LAPD Chief Charlie Beck said he would seek input from privacy advocates..."We're going to thoroughly vet the public's opinion on the use of the aerial surveillance platforms," Beck said.I think you got your answer there, Chief Chuckie.

If I remember correctly from my flying days, the FAA required aircraft to maintain at least 1000’ elevation over the highest building, in a populated area. In sparsely populated areas, the aircraft must maintain at least 500’ separation from any building, vehicle, or person.
If the drone is in shotgun range, I'd say go for it.
PULL!!!

I was surprised there was no little asterisk with fine print... I believe this is a fictional product... I doubt you could get buck shot to go 1km vertically and be of any use if it could get that high... DU or not.
