In 1996 Australia unloaded some of the most severe gun bans and gun confiscation programs on record. And for the guns that were not confiscated gun owners were forced to enter into license agreements and have their guns registered so the government knew what guns everyone had.
Well, they really only knew what guns the law abiding had, since none of the criminals actually followed the program. Fancy that.
Breitbart just reported some interesting developments in Australia that prove all the anti-gun lawmakers wrong. Gun control does NOT take guns out of the hands of criminals, it only disarms the law abiding, while making everyone less safe.

Isn’t it ironic, don’t ya think?
It’s like rain on your wedding day.
A twenty-one page form for getting approval to keep a .22 rifle. As for ammunition - forget it.
Gun free zones are advertisements for criminal shooting galleries. Disarm law abiding citizens, and you condemn them to death by criminals and government. No government has disarmed their citizenry with the well being of their citzens in mind. Once a government has the ability to disarm the citizens, it is already too late.
As long as those of very little intelligence insist on blaming “gun violence” on the guns, it’s going to continue to be out of control. IT’S THE PEOPLE, STUPID!!!
LOL! As far as .22 ammo, it’s pretty scarce here even without the “proper permitting documents”. Lucky I still have a few rounds hanging around.
And this is the same gun law Obama wants to emulate, possibly in the form of an executive order. Yet he continues to ignore the fact that most gun crimes and police shootings are gang-related, and does nothing about the inner city gang problem.
The road to hell...etc...
There’s a conservative government there now. They should intensely poll the public about their gun attitudes. Since most are still under the illusion that gun control helps, the next bet would be for the government to broadcast about rampant crime, especially cases where people could have defended themselves if they were armed.
Who was it taking advantage of this last bit of mass murder? I know Uhbama was off his nut and out of place talking about guns, but was it he who brought up Australia and how great it was? Or some other commie jackass?
Hmmm. It’s the stupid people? Odd that when somebody uses an automobile to “off” someone they go after the driver. When someone uses an *SDT they go after the SDT that was used in an unlawful manner. Apparently the mere proximity of an SDT will drive otherwise sensible people CRAZY.
*Self Defense Tool
Gun control is about power. Leftists cannot abide by anyone but themselves having power. Everything, and I mean everything must be in their jurisdiction. They get very nervous at the idea of the general public being able to defend themselves. It puts a damper on Leftist plans for pushing people around. ...and they don’t really give a rat’s read end about actual gun violence perpetrated by urban gangs.
It’s like, 10,000 spoons when all you need is a knife; or a 7.62mm belt-fed crew-served automatic weapon.
I must be the “Gun Show Loophole.”
Or the citizens are forced to hide their guns.
Nailed it. The left does not recognize the importance of any individual. The liberal ethic is based on the good accruing to a collective of nameless, numberless persons. It does not matter what one person does to another person. It only matters that the ruler is capable of controlling the collective. This is precisely the reason liberalism is morally degenerate. This is precisely why the US will never tolerate socialism as a permanent social contract.
Good news, Australia now has a conservative government, so look for some rollback to take place.
My first hand info is worse ... Lord, what do you say?
“This is precisely why the US will never tolerate socialism as a permanent social contract.”
And it is starting to show, proof, the recent defeat of Rep. Eric Cantor.
