U.S. Rep. Thomas Massie, R-Vanceburg, is all in for Idaho U.S. Rep. Raul Labrador to replace Eric Cantor as the U.S. House Majority Floor Leader in an insurgent campaign.
“I think what Raul will do is unify the conservative conference,” Massie said.
In a phone interview with Pure Politics, Massie said that he had been urging Labrador to run for the post. Labrador is a conservative-minded GOP member who has often represented the tea party on national media outlets like NBC’s “Meet the Press.”
But Massie acknowledged that Labrador will have an uphill battle against California U.S. Rep. Kevin McCarthy — the current majority whip.
“I told David Brat that Raul Labrador has a David Brat chance of winning,” Massie said referencing the underdog factor that Brat had against Cantor in Tuesday’s GOP primary in Virginia.
Brat defeated Cantor despite being outspent nearly 26 to 1 in his race — forcing Cantor to announce he would step down as floor leader and setting off the election for his replacement.
House Republicans will vote to replace Cantor on Thursday, and Massie said two things could help Labrador — a secret ballot and the elections being in mid-stream.

What is Labrador’s stand on amnesty. Does he believe in closing the borders, and applying the immigration laws we have on the books?
He’s got a less than stellar history but its either him or letting Cantor have his way.
I don’t understand why there are only two in the race. Seems like all these politicians were the kind to run for junior class president and debate team captain, I would think all of them would want to be the leadership positions.
Every time I hear about unifying with the Left whether the Leftist Dems or Republicrats, it's followed by the Right moving toward the Left, not the other way around. Kind of like Israel and a Arabs. "Peace" always means they take another chuck of land from Israel.
There's no peace with Israel's enemies who hate Israel and there's really no peace with the enemies within our borders. We want a free constitutional America necessitating MUCH LESS GOVERNMENT and they LOVE THE PERKS OF BIG GOVERNMENT regardless of the Constitution.
No, we who love freedom must present our case clearly to the American people, and not compromise with the big government folks.

The way it is now, politicians in safe districts can collect much more money than they need for their own campaigns and give the excess to their "friends".
The reason why so few run in these contests is because they don't want to upset their "friends". Right now your duly elected representative is sticking his moistened finger into the wind and trying to figure out which of the two candidates will end up on top so he can vote the "right way", i.e. the way that most guarantees future campaign bucks get sent his way.
Before anyone gets all gaga about Raoul Labrador, here he is on the Bergdahl exchange.
“I’m a little bit disturbed by some of the Republicans out there who keep saying this has never happened before,” Labrador said during an interview with the radio station 670 KBOI in Boise, Idaho. “That is not entirely true. If you look historically, at the end of any conflict, you have a swap of prisoners, and that happens. Usually our side will release people that are less than desirable in order to get some of our people back in these swaps. So I would suggest that anybody who’s being hyper-critical about this, they should look at the history. This has happened before.”
So basically we have McCarthy RINO and Labrador RINO Lite. LEsser of two evil BS yet AGAIN... Enough with this crap!
It was said that for 2014 he doesn’t want to implement immigration reform but is for it AFTER 2014, which to me means he is waiting until after the midterm elections before his true colors come out. I feel le3ry on trusting an individual like this.

At this stage of the game, who shives a git? He’s a helluva lot better than Kevin McCarthy; a RINO from California. Let’s leave the RINOs wounded and bleeding on the battlefield and march on. We can deal with each issue as it comes. The war is won one battle at a time.

I think Pete Sessions was bought off. So sad. I guess every political whore has their price.
He is better than McCarthy.
I’m leery also, but he’s no McCarthy, and the best candidate so far to step up and want the position. We shall see.
