For all their hysterics, they’re absolutely right on this one. Iraq has been an unmitigated disaster since the U.S. toppled the Ba’athist government of Saddam Hussein, and many of us predicted it right here on FreeRepublic way back in 2003.
Glad to see that you are back and trying so hard to relive the era of your only hit song.
And I was one of them. As despicable as Saddam Hussein was, he and his regime provided a good set of checks and balances between the Sunni/Shiite. Days of shifting the blame, is way overdue. And second guessing Bush's calls are over.
Well it is over 10 years later, and now you have a situation that is more the fault of Obama than Bush.
Obama is the one who :
(1) Decided to campaign on getting out of the country despite the circumstances.
(2) Has continued to capitulate and cower to the Muslims, even to the point of negotiating and surrendering Taliban generals for an enlisted soldier.
(3) Has had 6 years to formulate a contingency plan and other polices to prevent this getting to this point. How did this happen out of the blue? Intelligence ignored?
(4) Obama has shown his hand showing he does not want to engage Muslim extremist on many fronts. This has embolden the Taliban and other muslim terrorist organizations.
(5) Blaming your predecessor 6 years after your term starts is just a crutch for substandard leadership. Which is exactly what Obama has shown.
Agreeing with the LA Slimes on this matter is a stretch at best.
Silly.
Or perhaps the last six years didn’t happen. There was a time warp.
Obama let the leader of ISIS out of Camp Bucca in 2009.
Obama ended the occupation.
That’s when this began and was able to happen.
They have to be fought.
They will not stop.
I'm claiming credit for predicting it on 9/13/2001.
Hahaha, I was wondering where you were.
Actually pretty brilliant plan if in fact this is the outcome. I will let you digest that thought.
And, this proves Bush correct. This is exactly what Bush administration thought would happen if we did not not do anything.
The ME countries that were cobbled together by politicians after WW1 were bound to fail. Forcing enemies to live together in a false state is idiotic. The borders were and are just lines on a map...people should have been left to settle among their own kind instead of cramming together groups that hate each other ....idiocy.
We should have simply flattened Iraq and then put in a viceroy and a mercenary army paid for with Iraqi oil revenues.
We do not have the belly for empire... we should not engage in nation building and we should quit trying to force crazy people to live in democracies....they are unfit to live in a democracy and don’t wish to anyway.
