Rand Paul: Let's Compromise on Amnesty
Breitbart ^ | June 11, 2014 | Tony Lee

Posted on 06/12/2014 12:05:26 AM PDT by lilyramone

A day after House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-VA) lost his primary after Dave Brat hammered him on amnesty, Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) embraced "immigration reform" on a conference call with Michael Bloomberg's pro-amnesty group and Grover Norquist.

Paul, a potential 2016 contender, reportedly said that "amnesty is a word that’s trapped us," and, according to CNN, emphasized, "If you want immigration reform, there has to be openness to compromise." Earlier on Wednesday, talk radio host Rush Limbaugh declared that when politicians in Washington say "immigration reform" what they really mean is "amnesty."

Good point, he is a little light in the loafers to be looking down at his betters.

Arrogance is sure the right word.

The GOP-e has a tendency to pursue chimera such as the minority voter. Immigrant groups have, with few exceptions, leaned to the party that offered more government goodies. The big city Northern Democrat political machines, such as those run by the Prendergasts in Kansas City or by Curley in Boston, knew this and offered jobs and other benefits from city and county coffers. The only way Republicans remained competitive was to emulate these tactics and elicit support one ethnic group like Italian-Americans, who resented the Irish-Americans who dominated the Democrat Party and the Catholic Church in the Northeast. This tactic worked in certain places like Philadelphia and Connecticut for a few decades. However, the numerical decline of the British/German/Dutch descended Protestant base of the GOP in this region, combined with rising liberalism among the old money, Ivy League elite (e.g., the great great grandson of Theodore Roosevelt is an Obama supporter and a environmental wacko) doomed this strategy.

There is no reason to suppose that the Latin Americans coming into this country will vote for a party which, even in its RINO form, supports fewer welfare benefits. It is also foolhardy to think that Republicans can play off inter-minority hostility as their Northeastern forbears did in playing the Italian Americans against the Irish Americans. Neither the current Latin nor African American cultures have as intense a family and religious orientation the first and second generation Italians had.

On the other hand, had Romney, a Northerner, a moderate, and a member of a minority religion, chosen a Southerner with strong conservative credentials and an evangelical, he might have ginned up enough votes in Florida, Virginia, and Ohio to have won the 2012 election. Keep in mind that no winning Presidential candidate since 1992 has won with more than 54% of the popular vote.

RE :”Let's understand this brilliant strategy for Republican prospects. Amnesty and a path to citizenship for however many illegal aliens there are. So within a few years, counting offspring, we will have at least 20 million voters who will vote Democrat 7-1 or more.”

The GOP+Dem argument is that the GOP must pander to them to ever win another POTUS election, that they are already taking over with high birth rates here, born here makes them all potential (dem) voters. So in 10 years Dem POTUS candidates will always win in landslides.

Continuing: So that means they (GOP) MUST pander to them with amnesty and that's just a down payment, that the GOP must pay a periodic mortgage and pander and pander each election.(how about Spanish as the official language?).. and completely change, eventually into something like a Joe Lieberman..

Of course they are scared to talk about that second part in detail, would get them primaried .

Still using the backdoor argument for the liberal.

It is a little early in the game to be using that defense for the liberals.

It was in good shape last April when I was there. When I was taking a pic, the gf asked me “Who’s that?” And before I answered her, a passerby said nicely “Mayor Rizzo.”

Who would write that? Someone from 58th Streets and beyond? Although finding an inhabitant of that area that could spell that word would be virtually impossible. And to find someone from that area that could spell it and actually know what it means - completely impossible. Not happening from what I observed. It was like a 70s movie, but in real life.

That’s the “Italian Section” where “Rocky” ran down, right?

I have no idea what Charles Manson’s political leanings are, nor do I care.

So whatever point you tried to make doesn’t fit, make sense, etc.

If he had a chance at winning and keeping Hillary! (or any other RAT out of the WH), I’d vote for Charles Manson.

Isn't it a little early for you guys to be trying to move the primary left, with your "hail Mary" arguments?

Rand Paul wants to compromise with Obama on everything. He is trying to sound, more reasonable than conservative Republicans, kind of like Cantor was doing.

I’d like to round up Rand Paul, brand him and send HIM to Mexico.

Let him compromise down there.

Clearly you are one.

Isn’t it a little early for YOU to be trying to move the primary left, with your “hail Mary” arguments?

How many times are you going to keep posting nothing, rather than actually respond to my post?

“...Who would write that? ...”

An “Import” most likely. Not the residents of that neighborhood. They loved the man.

Most Philly-delphians did. He was a door-to-door from the Neighborhood kind of man.

He’s got his detractors for sure. But hey flak = over target, right?

At least he didn’t burn down a couple city blocks like Wee Willie Wilson Goode did by BOMBING the MOVE compound.

My compromise is we offer illegals a free ticket home - if they take it - we don’t arrest them.

You’re barking up the wrong tree, brainiac. You have ZERO idea what you’re talking about.

And who the hell are YOU that anyone needs to respond in a way YOU deem acceptable?

An import, yes.

Since there’s a HUGE mural of the guy, I’d say that area still loves him.

Yes, flak = target acquired.

The neighborhood firebombing - that was done by a... Yes, ok. Understood. Yeah, a 58th Streeter.

It was a simple enough question.

You posted the old rino post that was the most common argument for Romney, in this case you used it for the Romney-like, Rand Paul, the old “well he isn’t Obama” or in your updated version, “well he isn’t Hillary”.

Isn’t it too early to start using your Hail Mary defense for a liberal candidate?
