Right now when I talk to folks about Cruz and they bring up NBC I tell them that our current president set a new precedent. And that the old definition of NBC no longer applies. I’d like a better answer, but at the moment that is the best I can honestly come up with.

1. Don't give credit to Ozero for setting a new precedent. He didn't.

2. The old definition of NBC still applies (though it might not be the one you're using).

3. Follow Jim's instructions and you'll have your answer.

4. Understand this: American citizenship laws stand alone. What another country's citizenship laws might be -- in respect to an American citizen -- are totally irrelevant under American citizenship law.

I took a look at the thread Jim posted and I'm fine with Cruz being a NBC. I do think we are opening the door to someone else born to an America mother in a hostile country also being considered a NBC. But that worry is tiny compared to the problem we face right now.

I can't think of any conservative better then Cruz, I liked Paul but his is going wobbly on illegal immigration again. This is the third time and for me three strikes and you are out. Cruz IMHO is weak on foreign policy. He needs to get up to speed on exactly who our real enemies are, but he's a smart guy so I have little doubt he will get up to speed quickly.
