The purpose wasn’t to justify the release. The purpose of the “closed door brief” was optics, to create the appearance of and leave the impression there is some super secret rationale for the release.

From what I have read, the Haqqani network only wanted money. So they got several million dollars so for Bergdahl. Obama releasing the terrorists was just icing on his cake......and he could say he had to do it.
