If we provide for these kids in the name of charity instead of returning them to Mexico it will only encourage greater migration with the end result being so many dependant people that we cannot provide for them. The humanitarian cost of the safety net failing so many would dwarf the humanitarian cost of, as you say, dumping the current crop back across the border.

As a side note, the sad fate described above is where our welfare system is heading anyway, the Mexicans are just speeding up the process.

Two comments:
1) Brit Hume said last night that several of the kids came to western VA to shelter. He was impressed with the manners and the respect the children had.
2) If the kids can live with American families, they will be more integrated to our culture AND our Constitution.
