Conceal/carry, anyone?

What a strange story.
But then...dead men tell no tales.

The moral of the story...
Life is hard. Even harder when you are stupid...

Weil said he does not anticipate being charged. "I think it's a pretty clear-cut case of self-defense," he said.It sounds like it but get a lawyer anyway.

Weil grabbed his .40-caliber Glock handgun from a secret trunk compartment the only part of the story that perhaps requires further explanation. .

Who’s dead? They both lived.

Whos dead? They both lived. And that should be the ultimate outcome. Nobody should have to suffer the inherent psychological effects of having to shoot and kill someone in self defense........

What a strange story. I would almost bet the “big gun” might have been fake or a toy. Why would he not return fire after threatening to kill everyone and waving it around? Father better lawyer up big time!

I have a Chevy Avalanche and sometimes put my handgun in the side-saddle above the wheels. People are often surprised when I open it up - so perhaps that is “concealed”.
I don’t know what the laws are and if he was CCW, but the trunk might be where he needs to keep it, and a “secret” compartment might just be where the spare tire is, etc.
What I found odd is that he had time to open his trunk at all. The guy is lucky.

While I vehemently agree that the father should lawyer-up, I don't see that he is in trouble if the gun proves to be a fake of some kind. There is no way for him to have known that or even suspected it.
The weakness I see in the incident, which is not great I think, is that he apparently closed ground on the attacker, exposing himself to more risk. He might reasonable do this if he fears that the attacker might hurt someone else.
It is rather impressive that the guy started out with a knife and was able to retrieve a handgun while still in the presence of the attacker. That circumstance seems unlikely.

First if you see something that is not right in a store or park or were ever move away. Get in your car with your kids and move along. Call the police once your clear as you are not a cop. My wife always says that I know everything that is going on around us at all time. I know were the exits are, I know how many people are in our zone and there make up. A CCL is not a license to tell people how to act or talk.

Yeah, that phrase seems very odd. But, given what passes for journalism these day, the phrase may well have been a fragment from some other piece the writer was working on. Or maybe he does not know the meaning of the word “aspire”.

Why would he not return fire after threatening to kill everyone and waving it around? He had no huevos. If he did he would have opened fire to begin with.
