One thing that amazed me when I looked through the internets to see what the Folsom Street Fair was all about, was the cops standing idly by while gays had sex on the public street.
IIRC, there was a cop standing right near the stage where a performer was showing his artistic talents with a basket of assorted veggies and a big can of Crisco

I’m reminded of a story about Aloise Hitler Jr (Half Brother of Adolph)
In the early 30s he ran a beer hall in a building he rented from a Jewish landowner. Hitler wanted to knock out a wall to expand the business and hold party rallies. The landowner told him no. Hitler found a friendly judge who not only allowed him to knock out the wall but effectively stripped the Jew of ownership. The Jewish owner fled the country not long after.
