Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has sold his home in Searchlight, Nevada, to a mining company for $1.7 million and is moving to Las Vegas, his office announced Monday.
Mr. Reid, Nevada Democrat, sold his house with 110 acres of land to Nevada Milling and Mining, which plans to develop a gold mine in Searchlight.
The $1.7 million deal closed Friday, according to the Las Vegas Sun.
Mr. Reid grew up poor in the dusty mining town of Searchlight, about 60 miles south of Las Vegas, but as a lawmaker he managed to accumulate a personal fortune estimated at $5 million before the windfall from selling his homestead.
He said he sold out to the mining company because he and his wife, Landra Reid, wanted to move to Las Vegas to be closer to their children and grandchildren.

Did they also advise him on certain cattle futures — dang it I mean gold futures, to buy?
Kick back obvious it is. < /yoda >
$73 million was extorted from city contractors. He's in jail for 28 years---his father went to jail---and his mother a nine-term Congressman went to jail earlier.
Am/Greed pulled no punches---they aired video of the Democrat convention---starring Kwame as keynote speaker talking about family values....and other Democrat nonsense----as he was stealing the city blind.
I'm still laughing at that figure, they really think we're that stupid.
Watch Casino, the sleazy county commissioner who Ace Rothstein supplied with Hookers and then screwed Ace over in the gaming license case is based on Harry Reid.
Another Reid payoff——and another instance where he used his position, his office, our laws and our tax dollars to accomodate this company?
Well .. I won’t hold my breath .......
But is there some chance this windfall will signal the RETIREMENT of Harry Reid ..??
Sounds like Hillary’s cattle futures trading windfall. Backdoor payoff to a politician.
