'I've Had Enough': When Democrats Quit on Obama
National Journal ^ | June 9, 2014 | Ron Fournier

Posted on 06/09/2014 3:05:10 PM PDT by Seizethecarp

The email hit my in-box at 9:41 p.m. last Wednesday. From one of the most powerful Democrats in Washington, a close adviser to the White House, the missive amounted to an electronic eye roll. "Even I have had enough."

Another Democrat had quit on President Obama.

The tipping point for this person was the Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl case—not the soldier-for-Taliban swap itself as much as how the White House mishandled its obligation to communicate effectively and honestly to Congress and the public. More than that, Obama's team had failed once again to acknowledge its mistakes, preferring to cast blame and seek cover behind talking points.

I share this email to make the broader point and to offer a disclosure: In the 18 months since I began writing columns focused on the presidency, virtually every post critical of Obama has originated from conversations with Democrats. Members of Congress, consultants, pollsters, lobbyists, and executives at think tanks, these Democrats are my Obama-whispers. They respect and admire Obama but believe that his presidency has been damaged by his shortcomings as a leader; his inattention to details of governing; his disengagement from the political process and from the public; his unwillingness to learn on the job; and his failure to surround himself with top-shelf advisers who are willing to challenge their boss as well as their own preconceived notions.

Don’t be fooled. This is a distraction and Fournier is a willing accomplice.

PR BS. They “quit” on Obama when its convenient for the election. They hope to fool some low information voters into believing that they are against Obama. Politicians like Manchin have perfected this to make it appear that they are independent. Once elected, they will vote in lock-step with Obama and the Libs when it counts. (A similar story can be told regarding Graham and the other RINOs).

Ping to more evidence that Barry has possibly jumped the shark into Nixonian-level pre-invitation-to-resign-level demands by Democrats as top level liberal journalist, the highly connected Ron Fournier of the relatively non-partisan (for DC) National Journal reports numerous insider Democrats coming to him and denouncing Barry latest acts of political suicide for their party.

Republican know that if they initiate impeachment it will blow back on them, but more Democrats now seem to realize that Barry will doom them to defeat not just in 2014 but he will doom Hillary to defeat in 2016 if he isn’t stopped soon, especially after his entire “nstional security team” admitted that they “all” agreed to the obviously insane Bergdahl swap!

They have not “quit” on expanding the state. Obama is irrelevant. He could be at toxic levels of popularity. They’d find a way to use it to continue to spend more and expand entitlements and push their agenda. The moderates will be given cover to vote against Obama to the extent necessary but then will be required to vote with him when it isn’t.

Should have happened years ago but since the Right has no leadership except for a bunch of check cashers who peddle “outrage” for a living. Its Obama’s supporters who must feel the lash for supporting and enabling such a fool to be president.

Thanks for posting! I've been curious about this article after Rush mentioned today...

SO, all these top-shelf important Dem's (many former office holders, apparently) still really admire and respect President Obama, but fault him for lack of leadership?

That presumes that if he'd been a better leader, the results would have been better...personally, I don't think that's the problem.

That's the "between the lines"...it's not the leadership, it's the policies, "stupid"!!

Also, it's nice to say you respect and admire someone, but how is this possible if you're slamming him at the same time?! < sigh >

; his inattention to details of governing; his disengagement from the political process and from the public; his unwillingness to learn on the job; and his failure to surround himself with top-shelf advisers who are willing to challenge their boss as well as their own preconceived notions.

Jeeeeeeeze! how stupid ARE these people!!??

Let's see if I can sum Obama and the presidency up in one concise sentence:

Obama never wanted to be President, he just wanted to campaign for president and accept the adulation of the crowds of his sycophants worshiping at the temple of Obama.

Well that all rules out everything it takes to be a President. What exactly do they “respect and admire”? His golf game? If Democrats think Obama is “talented”, exactly what is he talented at doing? Talented sports TV watcher?

Some can fault Obama for “arrogance”. What strikes me is the utter irresponsibility of being a fifth rate nothing, yet undertaking the role of President. Lenin and the early Bolsheviks had this sort of criminal irresponsibility when they took over a nation and gave it civil war, state terror, and famine. They wanted power, but had no clue how to run anything but a political operation. Sound familiar?

All about regaining some cred when they jump on the Hillarious
bandwagon. At some point Ms Clincussion will have to throw Obama
under the bus to one degree or another.

Nobody is going to seriously investigate bozo, no wave of disgusted resigning democreeps is going to embarrass him. BUT none of them can now trust him NOT to do something so insane it can’t be defended...because he ALREADY has done this with the release of crazed killers for a deserter. For the next two years do they wait for him to destroy the party further or do they obviate him somehow?

Who knows.

If Democrats come to think Obama's a liablity, they'll try to neutralize him behind the scenes. Supporting impeachment would only weaken their party at the polls, so they won't do that. What they'd want is for people to be talking about Obama as little as possible, and impeachment would mean people talking about him more than ever. I'm a little skeptical, though. Would you prefer a competent president of the other party to an incompetent one of your own?
