Work permits are used by countries richer than United States. Dubai uses them. Singapore uses them. I personally visited Singapore in March and saw first hand how work permits work. Every 6th Singapore citizen is now a millionaire. The foreign workers are contributing to their prosperity. After observing the infra structure in Singapore, US felt like a 3rd world country. Airports, hi-ways, cruise terminal, public transportation, hospitals, hotels, restaurants, etc. were world class in Singapore. And no illegal immigrants or drugs in Singapore. They know exactly who is there, what they are doing, and where they live. We know none of those about our illegals.
Trying to compare the immigration issues of tiny little city-state Singapore to the vast United States and it’s freedom of movement and thousands of miles of borders and 100s of millions of people, is beyond ridiculous.
Singapore and America have nothing in common, even chewing gum is illegal there.
Singapore has twice the population of Brooklyn, and from 1994 through 1999 executed by hanging, 14 per 100,000 of its population, for breaking the law.
Among the death penalty crimes: Unlawful discharge of firearms, even if no one is injured
