HAILEY — In 2011, during his long five-year vigil, waiting helplessly at home while his son was held by Taliban extremists half a world away, Bob Bergdahl made a personal video for the Pakistani government that he hoped would be delivered to his boy, Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl.
“These are my thoughts. I can remain silent no longer,” the father began. He stood in a black shirt, his bushy blond beard worn long, the kind sported by most militant men in the war-racked region.
In the three-minute video, he mentioned several high-ranking Pakistani generals by name, thanking them for their sacrifices. Then he went on to thank the Taliban forces that were holding his son.
“Strangely to some,” he said, “we must also thank those who have cared for our son for almost two years. We know our son is a prisoner, but at the same time a guest in your home.”
He then addressed his son, sending his love and assuring him: “We’ve been quiet in public. But we haven’t been quiet behind the scene.”
That video, along with other social media postings the 54-year-old Bergdahl made after his son was captured near the Afghan-Pakistani border in 2009, have come under greater scrutiny in the wake of the Obama administration’s controversial prisoner swap, in which the U.S. secured the 28-year-old sergeant’s release by freeing five Taliban leaders held at the U.S. military prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba....

Bergdahl’s father is also a supporter of Sharia Law..and in 2010 made a video saying that his son’s captors are victims of America killing their relatives..no wonder his son turned into a traitor..raised by a prick like that..oh and I read today that Bowe refuses to talk to his parents LOL
Womenfolk like me, who grew up in the 60s and 70s, have long antennas toward corrupt men. I saw his corruption within 30 seconds of his appearance on tv. I notice he’s been “disappeared.”
If my daughter were taken by those sand rats, I too would know names...but not to thank them. I would in fact be doing a lot of research on everyone associated with them....but not to thank them either.
The whole family is nothing but traitors.
Give them ALL a one way ticket to Afghanistan and strip them of their U.S. citizenship.

Yeah he won’t talk to them because he knows he is massively screwed and is probably is kicking himself for listening to his father. If it is found and proven that this guy not only deserted but joined the Taliban and assisted them in killing US troops, he is absolute toast. But on the other hand maybe not being that we got a Taliban as POTUS.
I wouldn’t be surprised if his father ordered him to do what he did..remember the email he sent his Dad(Notice he didnt send an email to his mother) saying how America is “Disgusting” and rambled on and on and on..his father wrote back to him and said “Go with your conscience” that was code..because if anyone’s son wrote a rambling email to them they wouldn’t respond with 4 words..they would want to know what is going on, what is causing their son to say such things

I want to know how Obama had time to fly the Bergdahl parents to DC but no time to inform Congress what he was doing? Congress better not let him get by with this!!

Exactly. Who had the most influence on Bergdahl prior to joining the Army and prior to being “captured” by the Taliban? No one with a strong sense of independent, rational thought and trained to be part of a team as he received with the Army suddenly has an awakening then acts on it in such a dramatic and self destructive way. That takes coaching, mentoring, teaching well in advance.

The other day I read a Wikipedia article on Father bob — I went today to re-read it — and I couldn’t find it. I know it was about him because they talked about him being a UPS driver and a Presbyterian traveling (get this) 300 miles sometimes to attend church. Anyone else see it?
