Maybe Bergdahl’s dad encouraged him to walk away from base. Then, when he did, it wasn’t quite the good experience for a good cause that he hoped.
I could see the guy being too angry with Dad and embarrassed by him to talk to him.
Not that it excuses his conduct in any way. He still looks like a deserter to me. I”m just groping for why a guy wouldn’t want to talk to his parents or see them.
