After being cared for by ASPCA since being rescued on May 6, King is ready for a home. The cat captured the hearts of animal lovers when he was seen on video being punted like a football by a heartless man in Bedford-Stuyvesant.
The 1-year-old male cat that survived a brutal kick from a heartless perp outside a Brooklyn housing project last month is ready to be adopted.
The ASPCA has been caring for King since a group of animal rescuers captured the skittish gray kitty on May 6.
“King suffered tissue injuries as a result of the trauma, and was treated with painkillers,” said Gail Buchwald, senior vice president of the ASPCA’s adoption center. “He recovered successfully and is doing well.”
Staffers said the cat has undergone a behavioral evaluation and a hotline has been set up for potential adopters.
The affectionate and playful feline should go to a home with owners who have children over the age of 12 and some experience with cats.

Survived a vicious kick, only to end up declawed and castrated. Oh well, at least he’ll get fed regularly, and vaccinated to death.

That's what they do to be humane. I'd hate to think of what would happen if they were inhumane!

At least the video helped find the POS who did this and the poor cat who got kicked.

Who would have declawed him? I think your average kitty would trade his balls for about 20x the lifespan and continued food, safety, play and affection.
I missed where it said he was declawed. Neutering is something that has to be done to a rescue. I wouldn’t have a pet who was not “fixed.” Too much drama. We did have a cat years ago that we decided not to neuter. We just had his tubes snipped. Vet thought we were nuts (pun intended). Anyway, he had fun, came home with scratches and finally disappeared. Our current cat, Bob (he spells his name backwards) only goes out on our deck. He is totally not interested in other cats, always wants in and in his safe basement with his cat box at night. He’s surviving and has the fun of watching the birds on our feeders.
I will gladly go to BKlyn to adopt this cutie, and I don’t have children so I will spoil him rotten.

I don’t know of any place where rescued cats are declawed-even vets out here consider it cruel, even for indoor cats, and do not offer that service. But neutering/spaying needs to be done so that more strays are not born to starve, or run loose and be abused by cruel people-neutered animals roam a lot less, and so stay much safer. My 3 cats are shelter rescues and live happily indoors. All are neutered, all have full sets of claws.
I’m sure King will end up in the lap of luxury-out here, that means living inside away from the coyotes and other predators in the woods-in King’s case it appears to mean living inside, safe from human predators, too...
