U.S. fertility is not recovering from the financial crisis and demographers arent sure why.
The fertility rate fell to a record low 62.9 births per 1,000 women aged 15-44 in 2013, according to the National Center for Health Statistics.
The total number of births, at 3.96 million, inched up by a mere 4,000 from 2012, the first increase since the financial crisis. But the total fertility rate, or TFR, the average number of children a woman would have during her child-bearing years, fell to just 1.86, the lowest rate in 27 years. TFR is considered the best metric of fertility. A TFR of 2.1 represents a stable population, with children replacing parents as they die off.

"..has had the most punishing impact on demographic trends of anything since the Great Depression"
Because the Great Depression was a walk in the park compared to what we're going through now.
It’s Molech.

Yes, and the economy gathering strength is an illusion, pushed by the Marxist media.
Today, people are more self centered, and they are too lazy to have kids. I could go on, but it is too depressing.
America is in a fundamental change, and there is NOTHING good about it.
Children are now viewed as a burden rather than a blessing.
These demographers are idiots. Anybody with a functioning brain can see why this would occur.
They’re not getting laid enough?
Sorry, Michelle Duggar and I are 47 years old. There’s only so much we can do. Maybe demographers should try having their own children!
The simplest answer is the Obama Depression. Fertility rates always decline in economic hard times. The broader answer is the Culture of Death and the breakdown of the family.
Basically, yes.
We’ve, as a society, put what women can produce monetarily at such a priority, that everything else is demoted.
“Because the Great Depression was a walk in the park compared to what we’re going through now.”
You’re right; the Depression was a temporary (if prolonged) economic malaise, while this is a permanent adjustment to America’s standard of living to align it with those in Asia. The only way to temporarily delay this transition is to avoid breeding and the costs that are associated with it; you can still buy new cars, go on nice vacations, and have nice things - you’ll just be leaving them to your pet when you die.
“Weve, as a society, put what women can produce monetarily at such a priority, that everything else is demoted.”
It is more than that; young people watched the long-term unemployment generated in 2007/2008, the wave of foreclosures that followed, and are deciding not to be exposed. A short-sighted strategy in terms of national survival, but that means little to generations that have never had patriotism instilled in them anyway.
Coupled with the emergence of large numbers of non-reproducing homosexuals and you have the perfect formula for self-extinction.
Luckily we have floods of "immigrants" coming in to take over.
“Today, people are more self centered, and they are too lazy to have kids. I could go on, but it is too depressing.”
As a breeder who isn’t thrilled to have my children surrounded by the children of imported “replacement Americans”, I understand there are simply too many ways for young people today to rationalize their refusal to breed. Thirty years ago I heard white yuppies say the world was such a terrible place they couldn’t imagine bringing children into it; THAT was self-centered (they had the means but no desire). Today I don’t know too many young people with the means; I struggle, but I still have one of the old-fashioned jobs where wages, while stagnant, haven’t been adjusted down yet.
It seems the only whites breeding in my area are public employees; they have unequaled (actually absurd) job protections and equally absurd salaries.
“Maybe it is a problem with all the wussy boys that don’t grow up into men and move away from their mommies.”
Maybe it is a case of a legal system stacked against them and a job market that openly discriminates against them; there is little incentive for guys to risk so much while the women risk little.
One of the ways God shows His displeasure is by closing up the wombs of women in the disfavored regime.
“It seems the only whites breeding in my area are public employees;”

I should have stated that it is the government dependent women that are reproducing, unabated.

They are, either through welfare or workfare...
Let me take a potshot guess and say that families can’t afford more kids these days, and also because mom has to work long hours now and has no time to bear and raise them?
