To: Kid Shelleen

Why do they want to change this program? Because they want more Spanish only speakers; they don’t want immigrants to learn English??? Don’t know why there would be changes needed? If the program works, and we all agree that learning English is a goal for those born in other countries, why change it?

My grandson was in 1st grade at a school in Oregon that mandatorily taught half the day in English and half the day in Spanish. (he didn’t stay there long, fortunately; poor kid cried everyday)

I asked his teacher why she thought this was a good idea, her reply? “It gave her a job.”

This is crazy. I have a niece who teaches there, and she said scores took off after they started all-English. BTW, guess who was most opposed to the bilingual nonsense? Spanish speaking parents.

They wanted their kids to learn English and get ahead in the US, not be trapped in the immigrant (Dem) ghetto.
