Smoking cannabis as a teenager lowers IQ into adulthood and could have a lifelong impact, researchers have warned.
U.S. researchers found the damaging effects of the drug remained even if users stopped smoking marijuana as adults.
They said teenagers face increased risks from smoking cannabis, because the brain is rapidly developing at this time.
The scientists, from the National Institute of Drug Abuse (NIDA) in the U.S., added that smoking cannabis affects critical thinking and memory during use, with the effects persisting for days.
Reviewing a range of studies on marijuana smoking, they reiterated that cannabis impairs driving and increases the risk of being involved in a car accident.
The risks are further enhanced when combining marijuana with alcohol, they reported in the New England Journal of Medicine.

Have mercy...that is the truth. There have been times recently when I have caught a glimpse of the mouth-breathing morons behind the wheels of "Obama-Biden" bestickered cars and almost wished I could be as out of it. They have no idea what is happening to their country, not that they would care.
Me, I never smoked a joint because I was afraid I would get hooked, lol. But I don't think your I.Q. is in any danger.
You said Cracker Barrel...now I want some pintos and corn muffins.
Exhibit A — belief in global warming from CO2.

Wait, doesn’t burning cannibis produce CO2?
Oh, that’s different.
Thanks AustralianConservative.

“My IQ was tested 1975 in Spanish Fort Alabama at the request of my school just shy of 150”
147 for me according to my school transcripts. If I could have harnessed it I might have put it to something useful. Finding school not at all to my liking might have been a factor.
I went to high school in southern California in the late ‘60s and you can’t imagine how drugs just seemed to explode into our lives. Weed and hash were everywhere by the time I was a senior, not to mention psilocybin, acid, cocaine, speed, downers. What we were smoking was plenty strong and I used a lot of it.
I can see decriminalizing pot but I don’t like seeing it legalized. I don’t think the legalization experiment is going to end well.
Oh oh.... I hope I didn’t brain my damage.
